We can’t figure out why this place got decent reviews. For this kind of money we always get nice rooms at nice hotels. The rooms have window air conditioning so that you cant fully close the curtain and block out the street lights at night and sun in the morning. Very minimum amenities, no coffee in room, bath tub had baked on soap scum in all corners, sheets were like paper so every movement woke up our toddler, room was very small for price. Only good thing was the location, close to the ocean, but by no means on oceanfront. Quality of a poor motel.

Aloha, we are sorry to hear that your recent stay with us was less than satisfactory. Please note that that some of the room amenities were removed to keep in line with recommended health and safety protocols for hotels. If you have further insights and concerns, we welcome you to contact our general manager on site to discuss and provide an acceptable resolution. We hope you'll allow us a future opportunity to serve your accommodation needs. Mahalo!

My husband, our almost 21-year old daughter and I have lived in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for a little more than 10 years. When we first arrived in Kona in June of 2010, we stayed at the Kona Seaside for the first week, and then we had to go and get a place to live and jobs and all of that other stuff that is necessary to having a real life. Throughout our 10 years living in what we consider to be the best place in the world, we have intermittently "staycationed" at the Kona Seaside. We love coming here because it reminds us of when we first arrived. We also really appreciate watching how the hotel continues to evolve and try to become even better than it already is, which is really saying something. If I had to choose one word to describe this hotel, I would choose "real." The building is solid. The location is perfect. Most importantly, the people who work here actually care about themselves and other people. I am staying at the hotel even as I write this, and I would like to commend the very fine employees who we have encountered during this particular visit. The front desk crew, Giget, Amy, Sam, and Lanette are amazing in every possible way...responsible, friendly, attentive, kind, careful listeners, organized, warm, generous and all of the other attributes you would desire in a front desk employee. The night security crew, Erica and David, are the bomb. They have eyes in the front and back of their heads and they watch carefully and respond accordingly. Shirley and all of the other housekeepers are courteous, friendly and otherwise delightful. Our daughter currently lives in Wailuku, Maui and teaches at the Boys and Girls Club of America. Lily graduated Kealakehe High School in 2017, and she and all of her friends used to move around the high school in a tight pack and resist cruelty of any kind. Bullies are disgusting and also pathetic. Lily and all of her friends know that love is the most powerful force in the universe and will ultimately prevail. We just have to weather whatever current storm is currently brewing and wait for peace to reign supreme. This too shall pass. Besides being all of the wonderful things that I have already stated, the hotel staff has gone to great lengths to ensure the safety of themselves and the guests during this tragic pandemic. Everyone is scared right now about something. Whatever can be done to make people be safe should be done, and this hotel knows that. Mahalo and Aloha to the crack staff of the Kona Seaside hotel. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us. We really appreciate you. Keep up the great work! You all deserve raises. : )

Room tip: Every room is the best room. : )

You can find fancier accommodations in Kona, but you can not find a cleaner, more friendly, or a better location than the Kona Seaside. I will be back! This hotel is central to the heart of Kona, walking distance to everything on Alii Drive, and with true Hawaiian hospitality that shines from the Hawaiian owners throughout the staff. It is rare that a budget hotel can receive five stars, but it is easy to give all five to the Kona Seaside! Enjoy!

This is a bright, basic, affordable hotel that is super clean and well run. My kids love the clean pool, and my husband and I enjoy the peaceful rooms. This is the second time we've stayed for "Staycation" -- we live on the other side of the island -- and the proximity to shopping (normally, non-Covid) is great, but it's a comfy hotel to just stay and linger by the pool too.

Room tip: 4th floor is quiet and has nice terraces with a glimpse of ocean

I write this at 1:30 am and I’m still awake due to the ongoing noise from children alternately fighting and jumping on the beds next door. Several exasperated Calls to the front desk reveal that they don’t do anything to manage noise levels so that guests might be able to sleep.
AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!
