We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in August 2017. We were impressed by everything: 10 star cuisine, 10 star caring staff, 10 star service and personal attention. A lot of opportunities to have the holidays to remember: free walks and hiking tours with hotel guides, free trekking equipment, free lunch boxes, indoor swimming pool with panoramic view of the mountains, roof sun deck, etc. The hotel is a local discount program particpant: with Jocker card you will have free lifts (in summer only), free bus, and discounts. Excellent location in the pedestrian area with easy access to numerous local attractions and facilities. We'd love to return!

We stayed in this hotel for 1 week in August 2017. As i travel a lot for my job, i stay a lot in different hotels across Europe. I can say for 100% that this hotel is far most the best one I've stayed in.

A good holiday start with the booking of your accomodation. Every mail we've send, they always replied quick, correct and friendly.

Once on arrival (we drove with the car from Belgium), we went to the reception to check in. As the Glemmtalerhof is located in a "car free" area, we were able to drive to the front of the hotel for our Luggage. Stefan, from the reception, gave us the keys for the room and told us whenever we feel ready to check in we could come back to the reception. So that we could relax first a little after a long drive. Another peron from the hotel helped us with our Luggage and parked our car in a free parking especially reserved for the people of the hotel.

We got an upgrade from a Classic Suite to a Royal Suite. This is not a room anymore but an appartment. Very big, comfortable and clean. Only a minor thing is that there was a little dust under the closet and above it (have to say something). The rest of the room was very clean. Every day new towels as well as bathrobe for the wellness. The nice thing is that the bathrobe is not "one size for everyone" but little ones for the kids :-)

The food:

- Healthy breakfast with a lot of possibilities in buffet form. Everything you can imagine, it is there; Try the omelet especially made by the cook. During breakfast you get an overview what to expect for food in the evening with the 5 course menu for the adults and a kids menu. Only adults need to tell what they wan't for main course in the evening. Every day a salad buffet, a starter served at the table as well as soup and a dessert. 2 times a week you get a dessert buffet!

- Friendly people who are not only doing there job because they have to, but they really love there job. Very friendly and you see it in little details.

- Prices for drinks are ok.

- You can get information at the reception on what to do. We went for hiking with the kids as well as to the Captain Hook swimming pool. Upon arrival you get your "Joker Card". With this card you can go for free on several cable lifts as well as free entrance for the swimming pool. A minor thing for the hotel is that they need to prepare a better overview what to do (in detail with prices etc....) in the vincinity.

- Hotel has a wellness and this is not only a wellness. A lot of sauna's, swimming pool and a roof terras. Top

Overall.....a very good, clean and friendly hotel. Prices are ok in the summer, in the winter it is 2.5 times the price in the summer. It is a 4 star superiour worth it and much better than others. We recommend this hotel a 100%.

Room Tip: take the suite!

This is a lovely hotel in a nice small mountain village. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. The food we were served in the restaurant was first class and the variety was excellent. At breakfast you could make yourself a packed lunch to take out for the day which we found very useful. Our room was a decent size in the building behind the main part of the hotel which was fine, the only negative things I could say about the room was that the lighting was very poor and we had a large neon sign right outside our window that stayed on all night. The hotel was in a good location right in the centre of the village.

Visited here in early July, staying in the Sylvaner annexe. We ate in the main hotel, and used the spa facilities. The annex is very clean, comfortable and more than adequate. The main hotel was excellent, and I would particularly highlight the friendly, helpful and very accommodating staff throughout the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, and the restaurant staff were very very good. The food in the restaurant was of a high standard and very filling. We are vegetarians, and there was always an excellent main course, complemented by salads and starters, and excellent cheese to follow. The Austrian wine selection was very good, and prices were sensible. The hotel organised activities such as walking, and is very family orientated.

The resort was very subdued and restrained...particularly after a mountain biking weekend, so don't expect a stunning nightlife. Ideal for active couples and families, and we would love to return to the resort and the hotel

This is the second year in a row myself and my wife have visited Hinterglemm and stayed at the Glemmtalerhof this year in their annex at the rear of the hotel the Garni Silvester.

The hotel /annex is centrally located in Hinterglemm a small Austrian village that is located in the Glenn valley so surrounded by mountains perfect for skiing in the winter and walking in the summer.

The hotel was rebuilt in 2012 after being severely damaged by a fire so as such has modern facilities but still retains the traditional Austrian style and charm.

All the staff are very friendly and work hard to provide an excellent service from the front of house receptionist to the cleaning maid and dinner waiters.

The food both at Breakfast and 5 course evening meal with a choice of 3 main options with one being a vegetarian option is superb with something for everyone.

Breakfast being provided from a huge choice of continental meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and a cooked option of eggs, bacon, potato fritters to freshly cooked omelettes while you wait, all served with a wide variety of fruit juices or hot drinks of your choice.

A very nice feature is that they provide foil and sandwich bags so you can make up a packed lunch. this is particular welcome if you are walking in the mountains.

The hotel provides the Hinterglemm /Salbaach Joker card that give you unlimited use of the local cable cars and bus for the duration of your stay saving you a considerable amount of money.

In addition to this they provide the services free of charge of a professional local walking guide (Gerhard) 5 days a week. He is both knowledgeable and a great ambassador for the area allowing guests to discover paths they may not otherwise find while remaining safe at all times.

On a recent walk some of the guests struggled to complete a walk and on the downward decent he was able to co ordinate the hotel mini bus to collect them.

For those that prefer sporting activities they have a sporting Coach Yannik who leads activities some at an additional cost depending on the activity ranging from Archery, Rafting, Mounting Biking etc.

The hotels indoor pool and spa centre, saunas, steam room, water beds and small gym are all available at no cost to guests with towels and robes provided a great way to relax after a long walk.

We have travelled on both occasions from the UK with Inghams providing an all inclusive package that we have found very competitive. A number of operators use the hotel or it may be booked directly from their website.

On our recent stay last week I was not aware of any disappointed guests with the majority saying they would return.

If you are considering either a first visit to Austria or a walking holiday I would recommend checking out this hotel and its web site you will not be disappointed.
