Great bus service to ski lift and just 10 minute very slow walk to centre of Kaprun.
Landlady is a very nice woman but her husband can not stay sober so it is very unconfortable having him completely drunk helping with serving a dinner (and it took 2 hours from start course to main course, when there is no buffet).
Rooms are tired and there is quite a bit wear and tear in addition that carpet had loads of stains, pillows are hollow and head just sinks, pillow cases were unable to close and corners of rooms ar dirty.
I guess it is ok for the price but it made us decide to pay more next time to have a complete and cosy holidays.

We (myself, my hubby and our two boys aged 12 and 6) stayed here over Christmas 2009 and had a fabulous time. The hotel is up a hill and about a 10 minute walk away from Kaprun Centre. Fortunately the K bus stop is just outside the hotel and as its the first stop we always managed to get a seat. Vitally important when you are travelling with kids and skis and poles or snowboards. Not so good that the bus stops running at 5pm so we walked into town in the evenings.
Having read previous reviews about the food we were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was the usual continental style and included boiled eggs. There was always enough choice for all the family and we filled up every morning. There was always plenty of food in the evenings too. No, there wasn't always a choice but it was always good with enough variety so that we all got something we liked. We had a buffet on 3 evenings during our stay and our boys particularly enjoyed those. Martina seems to do most of the work with Frans coming in each evening to say hello. We had drinks every evening and they cost no more than you would normally pay in kaprun. Just make sure you keep enough money to pay for them at the end.
Since we were there during Christmas, the kids were given gifts. This consisted of chocolate, sweets, kinder eggs. Our boys were delighted.
The rooms were fine. They were made up every day, bins emptied and generally tidied up. Sheets were changed mid week. There is a TV in the room but most of the channels were in German. If you want tea or coffee, bring your own kettle. Ask Evelyn for a hair dryer if you need one. The rooms are warm all the time. Pack t shirts and light clothes for dinner.
There is a drying room in the hotel for your ski gear. You have to go in the back door when wearing your ski gear but it wasn't a problem.
There is also a sauna and solarium. We used the sauna. You turn it on yourself and head on in. There are towels outside the door but remember to pack your swimming gear unless you want to go in Austrain style.
We would definitely recommend the hotel and we plan on returning next year.

This small hotel was very smart, clean, staff very friendly; rooms very nice, lovely view from balcony and convenient for the ski bus which stops almost outside; We were not so thrilled with the food unfortunately; especially as I saw good reviews from here beforehand! Breakfast good but dinner was variable; plenty of it, just not much in the way of fresh vegs or fruit, lots of squirty cream on puds and soups. Veggies poorly catered for (not that I was surprised since Austria like most of Europe doesn't do good veggie fare).
All in all would recommend the accomodation but the food could be better

Stayed here for half term in 2009 as a family of 3 - helpful, friendly staff. Excellent food and comfortable clean accommodation. No bar but there is a lounge downstairs that we were drinking our own beer in after the restaurant closed. The only reason Im not giving it a 10 is because of the faff with the buses. The last bus (K2-Schaufflerberg-BURG) leaves form the centre at about 16:40 so if you stay until the last lift you are walking (20 mins ish) or taxiing - 6-8 Euros when we stayed. Its good in the morning though as you are first on the bus and can go right to the glacier (Kitsteinhorn) from outside the hotel. Just for completeness, its 15 mins bus ride to the glacier and takes about 20 mins to get up there to the first lift you can ski from. In conclusion, great family hotel and resort - can recommend Kaprun for its friendliness and family orientated skiing. Go and see the car museum down the road under the Sport Krystal and you can play bowls there as well. PS at least one of the owners speaks very good English

Stayed here in March 2007 with a friend. We thought the hotel was lovely. The room was clean and tidy, although not huge but ample space for two. The food was great, four courses most evenings. Drinks were not included and came in quite expensive when we paid at the end. The family who run the pension were very friendly but please note that (as with a lot of smaller Austrian hotels) they didnt speak a lot of English, it was enough to get by though. i ski in Austria for this reason as i like to escape hoards of brits.

The bus stop to the town and glacier was right opposite the hotel which was great and as its the last stop on the route you can always get a seat on the way.

Hotel approx 10-15min walk to the centre of town (downhill on way, uphill on way back) Not too much of an inconvenience as there was no snow on ground but may be quite a trudge in deep snow.

All in all we had a great time and really enjoyed our stay at Pension Trauner. Would definitely reccommend.
