Owner description: Jimmy Carter's old high school is now a museum dedicated to the 39th President.
Reviewed 25 February 2018

The Plains School, President Carter's high school, hosts a museum dedicated to his life and presidency. It is a must for any Carter or presidential buff. It also contains a small Parks Service boutique. President's Day 2018, President Carter himself lectured in the auditorium and afterward signed books.

The movie was worth seeing. There is a bookstore on site if anyone was interested in reading some books on the Carter's. I find the President and Mrs Carter's contributions to society worthy of esteemed recognition. 9 to 5. If you like driving country back roads, you will like the drive.

Loved seeing the schoolhouse and timeline of the Carter's life and career. So cool to see how small this community is and how a president emerged fr this community. Even more interesting that they live there full time now.

What an incredible museum! Not just for President Carter, though it covers so much of his life and work, including after his presidency, but it also shows a lot of his wife Rosalynn's life and work, too.
We enjoyed the historic setting of the old school, and the exhibits were informative and amazing. The work he has done to help those around the world is probably more than any other president in history, and reflects on how great and humble a man (and family) he is.

We enjoyed our visit to this historic site. Our grandchildren learned about the way school used to be. The auditorium is beautiful! Be sure to look up!
