“Great place to stay - clean, private cabin”
Reviewed 7 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

We enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was clean and well kept with updated kitchen, bathroom and laundry - which was really nice. Our kids loved having a loft to themselves with twin beds, while adults stayed downstairs. We also loved the location, slightly south of Custer, that still has easy and close access to Custer State Park and most of the activities and monuments making it a good central location for the area. We also enjoyed having a quieter, private place to come back to for our own campfire each night surrounded by more wildlife and pastures. Highly recommend the restaurant Burgers & Buns right in Custer - amazing burgers.

“Peaceful cabin retreat, close to Custer Park and attractions”

What a great cabin for the 4 of us (ranging from 9 to 72 years old) to stay as we experienced the Custer Park area opportunities. A quiet and scenic setting just outside of Custer City kept us close to activities, yet able to escape the crowds each evening. The cabin was remodeled with a very current and well-supplied kitchen and new bathroom with laundry. We spent evenings on the deck enjoying the view before and after dinner. Arrangements with Orielle were simple and neighbor/caretaker Laurie was very helpful and friendly.

My husband and I rented this beautiful property for our summer vacation with our two teenagers (ages 18 & 15). The cabin was perfect for us! It has a fully equipped kitchen, laundry area, as well as WiFi. There is an internet ready television for use if you have Netflix (which we never turned on). The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck, as well as using the outdoor fire pit for a bonfire during the evening. The weather was on the cooler side when we stayed (warmest temperatures got was about 74 degrees). The loft was about 5-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the cabin (although there are fans, this might be a consideration for warmer summer months since there is no A/C). The cabin itself is exactly as pictured…recently renovated, clean, beautiful hard wood floors, etc. The town is within 5-6 miles of the cabin and there are two supermarkets allowing you the ability to prepare and enjoy meals indoors/outdoors. (side note: we were pleasantly surprised to find gluten free food items at both of the supermarkets in Custer).

Communications with the owners, [--], prior to our visit were fantastic! We were greeted by the owners' neighbors, [--], who were extremely friendly and helpful (providing us with suggestions for future excursions). The cabin is centrally located and within driving distance to Mt. Rushmore, Jewel & Wind Caves, Sylvan Lake, Hot Springs, Hill City, Rapid City, etc. Our boys enjoyed driving the Wildlife Loop and seeing herds of Buffalo, as well as the tranquility of the cabin and waking up to see deer outside our windows.

We would highly recommend staying here and are looking forward to a return visit! A great place to unwind. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time :) Thanks for a terrific experience in South Dakota!!
