Short walk to French quarter, but far enough away to avoid noise and crowds. Service was very helpful and friendly. My tip to travelers?...realize this is a very, very old building, modernized and updated, but still with the limitations of a very old building. Solid and quiet, but don't expect a modern room. We loved it, but not everyone would.

I traveled to New Orleans alone! The bed and breakfast was the safest and best option for anyone traveling solo. The staff are all friendly and very helpful! The location of the bed and breakfast is perfect! The French Quarters is a ten minute walk from the Rathbone Mansions.

The communication about Check in was excellent. Parking was nearby and free. The neighborhood was fun and had lots of character. A lot to do within walking distance and close to Rampart St trolley. The room and property was great. Wish we could have stayed longer. Breakfast options were minimal but coffee was excellent.

This was my first time and I was shocked how expensive lodging was we went with Rathbone Mansion due to researching and reviews. I could not have been happier the staff was so helpful very friendly the house had the old world charm and the location could not have been better. Were the rooms cozy yes but I am not there to lounge around in my room. Was the building old and some areas you could tell yes but it was beautiful right down to the friendly cat by the pool.

Room Tip: corner suites are large and sunny. Talk to Cat she sent us to locals establishments that we would not have found otherwise.

My boyfriend and I were on a road trip, and we stopped by New Orleans for a weekend. We wanted to stay close to the Quarter and Frenchman St in a place that wasn't a sterile Hyatt or Marriott and had a little New Orleans character. The Rathbone really fit the bill, and was affordable. The property is two old pre-civil war mansions on Esplanade Ave, about a 10 min walk over to the music bars on Frenchman. A lot of places like this are run by a mom & pop and may be a little dirty or not-well kept, but this place is obviously professionally run. Super clean. It's NOT a B&B, but they had nice pastries (chocolate croissants are insanely good!), fruit & coffee out in the mornings in the charming, cool little lobbies.

Other stuff: The room doors are coded so we didn't have to worry about a room key which was nice. They had a pool & hot tub area that was really nice, with some NOLA-style art murals, but unfortunately we caught a cold weekend in New Orleans and swimming wasn't in the cards. Would definitely stay here again next time we come through town.
