Set in the French quarter on 533 Royal St we found Merieult House which we were told in the past was used to serve as a home on the second floor and the ground floor was used commercially.
The Louisiana history galleries now uses the second floor for the exhibition of a collection of maps, period furniture, paintings which is set in a very interactive setting. Free admission closed on Monday
Behind it is the Williams Residence two story restored town house with courtyards, parlour, dining room, etc housing many original pieces of furniture, art, paintings and antiques etc making this a must see home and being part of the historic New Orleans collection museums. Making this a must see home entry is $5 and not open on Monday. We enjoyed see both of these nice buildings and having very helpful staff was icing on the cake as being out of town their knowledge about Louisiana’s history was very helpful.
