Recognizing self taught art as a major art form- this museum usually has an exhibition showcasing one of the American south's true treasures

This is a very fine art museum. The exhibits are very nicely curated and give an excellent overview of art in the south, both contemporary and historical. Some of the newer art on display contains powerful messages from the artists about contemporary society.

The total volume of pieces in the collections on display are just right to take in an unhurried couple of hours, and the museum is right in the heart of the city, so an easy cab ride or reasonably easy walk from many hotels and other attractions. The Ogden Museum is well worth your time to visit, and very deserving of your support!

We were a little skeptical with the word Southern in the name of this small museum thinking it might be full of folk art. We have nothing against folk art, but are used to big museums like the Met and the Louvre. I can tell you that we saw things here that we loved and moved us, just like in any other museum. We always reach a saturation point in larger museums and just pick a time to leave. You can see this little gem in its entirety in a couple of hours and still feel like doing other activities in the same day. They have a nice gift shop and a wonderful view from an upstairs terrace with outdoor art. I definitely recommend this museum.

This is one of the most unique museums filled with unexpected and sometimes quirky artwork. Lovely surroundings highlight the walls and rooms filled with fun and beautiful pieces.

The Ogden offers an eclectic collection of art from Southern artists. Each explanatory label gives the artist's home state. The art is a collection of traditional, modern and mixed media. We truly enjoyed our visit. Start on the 5th floor and work your way through each gallery. Enjoy!
