Hopping place good restaurants and shops. Street vendors, artists, carriage rides and fun music. Great view of the Mississippi. St Marks Catherdral beautiful. Cafe De Monde on the corner.

Beautiful with a touch of homelessness

It is always interesting to see all the vendors and do the hores drawn carriage tour.. walk the square and sit in the park.. but there is definitely a homeless population in and around the square. We were asked for money at least 20 times...and while sitting in the park a man got up from under a bush relieved himself and then went back to sleeping under the bush.. but it is still a have to go while in NOLA

Beignets and more....

Visiting Jackson Square was special. We ate beignets and had Cafe au Lait at Cafe du Monde while listening to street performers outside. It is a great experience!

Jackson Square in the Fall

Jackson Square is an historical venue in New Orleans which is directly across from St. Louis Cathedral. It is a pleasant place to rest from walking through the French Quarter (the original section of New Orleans). The only point of interest within the walls of the park is a statue of Gen. Stonewall Jackson. It is close to shops and other points of interest, including the cathedral, in the city. On weekends and holidays local artists and others set up tables to sell their wares. Be sure to stop for New Orleans style beignets (doughnuts) and cafe au lait (coffee with milk).

Jackson Square

Beautiful old park. Iconic Nola location in a much better area. Pan Du Monde is directly across the street!
