Obviously, you HAVE to go here at least once. During the day and again at night. It is a beautiful area to walk, the St. Louis Cathedral in the backdrop, lush gardens (even in November... I can't imagine in the spring). But there were homeless people EVERYWHERE. Some minding their own business, some holding signs, some asking for money or to shine your shoes (do not stop and talk to anyone who mentions your shoes!), some sleeping in the park. I felt like there were a lot of good works of art being sold, lots of people offering to read your fortune or palm (I fell for one lady, I'm a sucker for a tarot read... she was horrible... asked me if my husband beat me --- whaaat?? We were on a trip for our one year anniversary and he's never so much as given me the evil eye - LOL). Maybe I just got the wrong lady.
Bottom line: Worth a visit, but be prepared.
