Years ago I went to this when it was in a warehouse across the river. Then it was ok. Now it is spectacular. There are now so many elements of the place, not just Mardi Gras floats, but also a wonderful antebellum mansion among other things.

$22 tour. Overall very entertaining and I learned a few things. If you want to see some behind the scene stuff about floats this is a good place. You get a good movie and a piece of king cake. Also a free shuttle bus will make stops at certain pick up points.

We really enjoyed the look "behind the scenes" of Mardi Gras floats. Took a ton of pictures! Learned a lot of interesting information about the floats and the whole process of creation.

It sounds like it would be corny, but this place is really a lot of fun. It's also unique to New Orleans. The intro movie gives you lots of background about Mardi Gras, and then you see how the props on the Mardi Gras floats are actually built. There are lots of props of all types to see. Many photo ops. Definitely worth a few hours.

I leaned that this exhibit is run by the company that makes floats and creatures for the "mega" Mardi Gras floats using styrofoam and paper mashe. They are quite fantastic. They do not make the "Indian" floats. Those are made by hand by other krewes. I would have loved to see those as well but maybe next trip.
