It is absolutely one of my favourite places in the world. I don't really know why. I especially love going to see the old book stores.
I love the architecture of the french quarter and the delightful rsstaurants and shops (away from Bourbon st). If partying is your thing then Bourbon st is your place! Lots of music on the street and in the restaurants. A fun place!
We really enjoyed the French Quarter. The music, great food, arts and friendly people exhibiting southern hospitality abounded. We stayed 3 days and could have easily stayed 7 days just in the French Quarter. A place to experience.
We love the French quarter but having said that it is a mess and a lot of vagrants. Having said that we only had one vagrant bother us and he backed off as soon as we asked him too. Just be aware of your surroundings and you will have a good time.
This place goes 24 7 365. Drinks flow abundantly, live music, everywhere. People watchers paradise! Casual dress, comfy shoes a must!
