Music , art and the best people on earth!! Food, drinks, live shows right there on the streets. Much to see and do it just sit on a bench allday and do nothing
It was very busy. It was the week following Mardi Gras. Good moments. Busy busy busy. Would go back.
Great place to spend the day. Shops of all varieties with tons of drinking and dining establishments mixed in. Lots of folks wandering around lit up to keep ya entertained as well.
Yes it get crazy at night. Yes it can get crazy during the day, but I’ve travelled here with the family multiple times and you just need to stay off Bourbon street.
Anywhere you walk, even if it is Bourbon street, you’ll be fine. Many distractions like music, art and beads for kids to have fun during the day.
But I would recommend going back in at night, when all the zombies come out and play as it gets less fun if you’re going for a family friendly environment.
It is a party! Careful on the bumpy sidewalks, saw a few people fall who weren't drunk. Go into lots of the bars and restaurants to see what they feel like, some will surprise you! Get a map...hard to keep oriented. Not just bars, but also art shops, gift shops, hotels, and even mini museums. Keep looking! It can be very loud (especially if there are kids "drumming" on plastic drums) so you may want and surely kids should have earplugs handy.
