Really great place to visit to add to your understanding of the advanced cultures that were here FIRST. Anyone interested in history and/or Native American cultures SHOULD make it a point to visit this site.
For anyone that is intrigued on America's foundation and what Native Americans meant to this beautiful nation, I would highly recommend this attraction. Located just outside of Chillicothe, Mound City offers great heritage and insight on 1 of Chillicothe's founding Indians. The Adena and Hopewell Indians were notorious on building geometric structures to represent their chiefs, loved ones and their way of life.. Much like the Egyptians did with the pyramids, Mound City takes you back hundreds of years and gives you a real perspective of how our "True
Americans" really survived!!
They offer history of the Native American culture as well as some special offerings through the year (like bird watching). It doesn't take long to visit this attraction.
If you are into the history of the ancient mound-building natives of Ohio and their cultures, this should be on your 'to do' list!
I like to think that I have a good imagination. That's what it takes to enjoy these archaeological pre-european contact sites. If your children (or yourselves) have not read about 'mound builder culture' prior to your visit, you will be underwhelmed.
it is listed also as Hopewell culture historical park, it Is native American burial mounds this is a good place to learn about past native culcure
