Went here today after wondering if i should or not (didnt know if it would be cruel) everything seemed ok its about £15 each to get in. Elephants that we saw seemed happy and well looked after. Had a few pics took with them. Wouldnt never ride an elephant however people have done for centuries... the elephants are very well fed and seemed happy enough. I loved it as i have never been so close to an elephant. The place is also easy to find on a scooter.

We weren't disappointed- we washed the elephants, before joining them in the lake where they bathe. We were then free to enjoy the buffet breakfast and roam around the park. It was extremely well organized, and proved to be absolutely great fun!

I love elephants and there are so few places you can get up and close to an elephant. This is such a place but....

We were picked up at 5.45am from our hotel and taken on a 90 minute drive to the venue. 5 others were picked up along the way.

You enter and go to the washing area where you wash the baby elephants and at the same time let them drink from the hose. They have a lot of hair and their skin is tough.

That was good and then we moved onto swimming with the elephants. You climb on with a trainer on the back and the elephants dive under the water so you feel you are riding a bucking bronco. This was fun and scary.

Ok I can live with these items but what I didn’t like was the other older elephants chained by the front right hoof and the riding of the elephants for the passengers delight.

There was information confirming the business does all this to comply with Indonesian / Bali law. This may be true. The elephants certainly lead a better life that dying however it still comes across as exploiting the elephants.

I did enjoy going but did the first two items, wash and swim. A great opportunity to learn about elephants see them in their environment but please don’t exploit the animals by doing “shows”. I appreciate they are not hurt but they are exploited.

I see one star recommendations and I see 5 star recommendations. I appreciate some like the rides and some don’t. It was interesting amazing but also sad.

Good luck making your personal decision .

We spent 4 days staying at this wonderful elephant park created to rescue endangered Sumatra born elephants. It was amazing to help wash them every morning and to go for a swim with them. The elephants enjoy the swimming very much. We were lucky enough to be there on 'Nyepi' which is a Balinese holiday when no one can go anywhere all day. The nice thing was to see the elephants relaxed and enjoying themselves. We had a wonderful stay and the staff are all so knowledgeable and helpful. We highly recommend this place and the hotel.

This is the most amazing beautiful place and the elephants are so breath taking ! The elephants Only participate by choice if there not up to it or refuse they don't have to ! Anyone that knows about elephants know that they can be territorial and can eat up to 200kgs a day so for there own safety and the grounds and public if there mahout isn't with them they need to have a chain on and if you read any of the signs at the park you would of read that it doesn't hurt them and they quickly accept the fact and also associate it with feeding time! As for the pick they carry it's a tool used for emergencies for your safety ! But if the elephants didn't want to be there they could easily all 31 of them breakout as they are extremely powerful! This place does a lot for Sumatran elephants and since the habitat for them and all animals are growing ever smaller by the minute they do a lot to try and educate people on them ! I would recommend this place every day of the week !
