I stayed here as part in of a 5 week yoga teacher training.

Prana Dewi is a Balinese style cluster of bungalows set amongst expansive rice fields/vegetable gardens and is situated at the base of mount batukaru and the adjoining temple.

It is approximately 30 mins drive from Tabanan city and is an idyllic rural location with Bali's second most important temple about a 20 min uphill walk away. There are also gorgeous rice terraces which you can access close by to here via a cheap guided hike.

I stayed in Renjani, at the top of the rice paddies, which afforded me a wonderful view of the grounds.

Things you will encounter:
-frogs
-geckos
-the rare snake or spider (harmless)

Do not come here if you are not comfortable with sharing your environment with the environment.

Do come here if you are someone who appreciates the slow and steady pace of traditional Balinese life.

I do note that the photos on the website do not do this place justice. It is so lovely in real life, as long as you are aware that you will see the odd creature in your room/bathroom etc.
Finally, get massages by Cobra (male Neghah) or Nhuriani. Cheap and awesome.

It was a honour to be permitted to stay at Prana Dewi over the Oct-Nov months. I look forward to coming back one day.

My friend an I are conducting yoga retreat every year. This year we choose Prana Dewi Mountain Resort, and find it is perfect..
The bungalows are spacious, clean and well maintained
Semi outdoor bathroom is thrilling... Take a shower in the middle of nature..
We order vegetarian food during our retreat, and it is so good... Especially the fresh tomato soup.. Yummy...
The yoga hall is very nice with complete equipment from mats, blocks, wall ropes, bolster and belts. Everything is ready and we do not have to bring our own. Just perfect...

We stayed at Prana Dewi in May 2014 for 4 days and we loved it. The resort is really beautiful, much better than the photos, with delightful and extensive gardens, lily ponds and an exquisite pool, all in the midst of original rainforest. The pool is fed by a cool stream direct from the nearby mountain. The resort's own organic traditional rice field is right in the middle of the place. Don't come expecting a wild nightlife - there isn't any, except for the sounds of the forest. Our bungalow (Batukaru) was large and clean and each one is well separated from the next. We enjoyed the fresh and delicious food. And one of the main delights was the staff, including the driver, who are friendly, helpful and interesting.

Room Tip: Batukaru, or any bungalow away from the restaurant.

I had a dream yoga retreat and stay at Prana Dewi last month. The meditation, yoga and trek to the temple we took were all a relaxing and inspiring experience. The accomodations are clean, simple, and delightful. They have an extraordinary atmosphere of true Bali life. The food is wholesome and refreshing. Staff and management are delightful as well as helpful. I highly recommend a stay here to enjoy Bali as it really meant to be for any visitor.

Room Tip: Any will do.

Getting there is quite the trip! But the reward is definitely worth it. The resort is beautiful. Breakfast and dinner were very nice. We loved all the animal and insect sounds 24/7 but if you don't like it this is not the place for you. Great outdoor shower, clean and spacious room, mosquito net. The bed is a bit hard and if you are in the standard room you will notice that the walls are paper thin. We overheard our neighbour snoring both nights. However, we were so happy with the surroundings that we didn't care so much. And you can always book a bungalow! Guided trek is fabulous, we only did the short tour through the jungle to the Batukaru temple. Recommended to everyone.

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear your neighbours, book a superior room (bungalow)
