“Service....What Service”

We found this hotel on the internet and by the photos and offers decided to book a Pool Villa for 8 nights, what a mistake. When we arrived we were offered a private check-in in our viila, only problem our bags didn't follow us. After about an hour I called reception and when I asked for our bags the girl asked what colour and then said oh. When they arrived the bags had hotel tags attached but no room number included...obviously they had no idea of who they belonged to so just waited till a guest called asking for them. We made our way to the Club...great service and a fantastic deck looking out towards the ocean. This was the only area in the hotel that we received any service. We attended the Seafood dinner on our first night and where told that we would be given a plate of assorted seafood and to go and select our own salad, it wasn't a buffet where you could select your own seafood. We were offered a drink and that was the last time that we saw anyone until we had to go up to the waiter's station to ask for our bill. The next day we decided to head to the beach, we called in at the pool area to get some towels and where told they were only for around the pool and not to be taken to the beach. We went to reception to ask if we could hire or buy some and were told to go up the street to a shop to buy some. We went up the road and spent $30 on three cheap looking towels. We we got to the beach there were 8 gusts lounging on hotel towels. My husband went back to reception and they called for the Front Office Manager Wayan to come out. He came to our villa and explained their policy was not to let towels leave the property and he said that he would bring it up for discussion at the Manager's meeting that afternoon and he assured us that there would be no towles found on the beach the following day......next day we went to the beach and there were even more towles to be found. My husband went back to the reception area and spoke to Wayan, he apologised again and then sent a voucher for a Theme Dinner in the hotel as compensation for the purchase of the towels. The following day we received a letter from Wayan saying that the Managers had decided to change their policy and in future guests would be able to take towels to the beach, I agree with other reviewers that there in no service in any of the bars or food outlets throughout the hotel. We waited 45 mins around the pool and eventually had to go up to the bar area to request a drink, there were 4 waiters standing around doing nothing. We then went to the other restaurant in the complex for dinner and waited for service and eventually ordered something to eat and drink...we waited nearly an hour for food and our first drink arrived as the food arrived. The food is very cheap and very basic with no flavour. The room next to us had room service and the dishes were left out on the grass until the following afternoon - even though house keeping had cleaned the rooms and other staff were walking past throughout the day and evening.

If you think a pool villa will give you privacy and tranquility then this isn't the hotel for you. We had neighbours one evening that had attended a wedding held in the hotel - the wedding area was very well done - they returned about midnight and it was if they were in our bedroom. The is a dividing wall between the villas but it doesn't go all the way up as it is designed in a way for the breeze to get through even though we didn't ever get a breeze into the open living space of the villa.

We checked out after 4 days and moved to Maca Villas in Seminyak. There was no comparison, for the same nightly rate we received a spacious pool villa with a separate air con living area that had bi-fold doors so you could open up the villa to the garden, deck and pool. Fantastic attentive staff, service and a restaurant attached that served 5 star dining at the same price as Bali Mandira.

Room Tip: choose another hotel if you are looking for a pool villa in a nice complex

I found the Mandira to be great, we had a problem with our room..and the manager went out of his way to make sure we were happy, and found us 2 more rooms...the adults only pool is great (every hotel should have one!), the service was efficient and friendly, buffet breakfast was lovely..wide choice (just watch out for the squirrels eating the bread though!) We were there over Nyepi the New Year celebration and had to stay in the hotel grounds for the whole day....there was a limited menu, and only room service after 6pm, but the staff did everything they could to make sure it was ok. I would definately go back to the Mandira.

Iv been to bali 4 times always stay at a nice hotel & NEVER complain about anything the grounds at this hotel are awesome but that's as far as it goes for 4 star, rooms average for 4 star, service none excisent, 5-7 people working at pool bar & never come & ask u if u would like a drink u have to chase them ALL the time just like u were staying at a 1-2 star hotel waited nearly 1.5 hours for a meal in the restaurant when only about 15 people were there i walked out the guy who does the trips was great but for the price will never stay there again i complained to reception was spose to be taking up by manager but i didn't here 1 word from any 1. IN NO WAY IS THIS A 4 STAR HOTEL

We can highly recommend the Mandira! The staff is very friendly, the gardens are beautyfull and well maintained, the buffet breakfast is great and the service is outstanding from notes to remind us about our airport transfer to flowers in the room for my birthday and no problems to move us into a room with balcony after we asked for it. The renovations are very discret and barley reconisable. Without a doubt will i return to stay at the mandira again.

Fantastic hotel with kind/trustworthy staff. Room was spotless. Kids club had lovely staff that I would highly recommend. Have stayed there for the last 4 years and it gets better and looks more beautiful each time. Thanks Mandira Staff, we hope to see you next year.
