Nice little cafe in a lovely garden. Great for an relaxing and quiet afternoon coffee and cake. You even get a decent black forrest cake there :) Mixed fruit shake was also great. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

Now called The Garden Cafe in a new location this restaurant has a delightful garden atmosphere. The food has a distinctly German flavour with great roast pork on Fridays. The cakes and quish are superb. Not to be missed when in Kampot.

Besides the best cake in town (really) and very good coffee I like the lovely garden with orchids and other flowers. You sit quite and shady under Mango trees. Also serve great lunch like the famous roasted pork as well as a variety of keesch, occasionally Döner Kebap and authentic german Leberwurst for sale. Well worth a try.

Thank Andreas N

I knew Cafe Malay in its former location in the Old Market in Kampot some years ago and was always impressed by the schweinbraten - roast pork. Years later I decided to treat myself, would it still be as good? Yes, it was.

Situated on the right on the road between the 2000 monument and the Saltworkers circle it is a little tucked back and easily missed - look for the menu board and the yellow umbrella. A little garden with a bungalow in front and a small number of tables under an awning, gives it a fresh-air ambience.

On Fridays the special is schweinbraten with potatoe croquettes and red cabbage, a German dish. The pork was nice and succulent - some roast pork in town is quite dry - with crunchy puffy skin - crackling. The potatoe croquettes had changed, they were smaller than I remember and shaped into balls rather than little sausages, but there were more of them - mind you, one can never have enoiugh potatoe croquettes. I like red cabbage and it was a touch mild, I prefer a more vinegary taste, and there was a good portion.

Very satisfying, not a budget item, at $5.25, but excellent value and quality. Note: Get in early, the schweinbraten is very popular.

Somalay, the lady who runs the place is very friendly and helpful - and has a great memory.
