I have very mixed feelings about this place...

On one side we have the charming and calm environment, the beautiful river and the vast vegetation. The staff are quite friendly and are here to help you for any needs.

On the other hand, the rooms are very simple - probably not worth the price especially that breakfast is not included. Which brings me to my next point, you must eat everything there, breakfast, lunch, dinner. All with a mediocre kitchen, the prices for each meal is around 6 to 7 dollars. Breakfast options do not include coffee, another $2 for that. They can do this as there are no other options of places to eat around here. This hotel is located 20 minutes away from Kampot, the hotel does offer a $5 tuk tuk.

Overall this place has a very charming touch to it, but the simple rooms and the slightly expensive and not very good food make me want to give this place a 3.5 stars, because this is not possible, we'll stick with 3. We were planning on staying 3 nights but chose to cancel and only stay here one night due to the reasons listed above. This wasn't the right hotel for us, but it might be for you, it depends on what you want during your stay.

Dear Jeremie,

Thank you for taking the time to rate our venue.
We feel sorry that the Sabay Beach did not meet your expectations.
In this situation, we value your concern and I understand that our staff also applied an extra discount on your room.
We would also like to remind you that despite the late cancellation you have only been charged for the first night you stayed with us and no extra fees have been applied.
We understand that our concept is quite unique and that it might not fit everyone.
We feel a little hurt when we read about the quality of the food being mediocre as our head chef and management are working hard to provide a fresh, original and tasty menu but once again we accept that everybody has different taste.
Regarding the pricing, running a restaurant in a natural environment 7 days a week from morning until evening without interruption represents a much higher cost than operating a venue in town, therefore prices are slightly higher. Full restaurant menu is available online on Sabaybeach.com and we have options for mains ranging from 3.5usd to 7.5usd.
Guests who wish to have their breakfasts, lunches and dinners in town can do it easily as there is a 5usd tuktuk that can pick you up and bring you to town in 20min.
We also know that you live in Siem Reap and the hotel market is a lot different and cheaper there as the offer is a lot higher than the demand.
Nonetheless we do feel sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us as much as the other guests and we sincerely hope that you will give us an other chance in the future.

With kind regards,
Sabay Beach

Staff is really helpful and organizes your day if you want. They organized even our taxi to come back to Phnom Pen.
Breakfast is soooo good, the best we have had in 10 days.simple and fresh.
And the view... I cannot explain the view. You have to go and see. Fantastic.

Beautiful staff, in particular Winnie and Shannon (fellow aussies), Paeakdey and Kaeng! They were so helpful and gave us plenty of ideas of what to do in our short stay in Kampot. A really nice and relaxed setting, it feels like you’re living in a treehouse! It’s three levels, a fabulous and huge bathroom on lower level with hot water (mmmm :)), a living area in the middle and the bedroom on top. Although our room didn’t have air con, we had a fan which was sufficient and they provided a great mosquito net to enclose the bed. The bed was so comfy. It is a little bit of a mission out to town but if you hire a bike it’s no trouble - or a Tuk Tuk ride which is cheap.
Set on the river, quiet and relaxed, this place was a highlight for us. We loved it.

We stayed 2 nights in Sabay Beach where we had a very pleasant time. The site is very beautiful in the middle of the mango trees. The room was simple but comfortable. The staff is very friendly and always happy to have a talk about what to do in the area.

Special mention to the restaurant and bar. First the place is very charming, high up, close to the trees, in front of the river, all made with wood.

The menu is composed of traditionnal cambodian and european food. Everything is prepared in a delicate way for great quality meals.

Also, the bar is a REAL cocktail bar. We went to other places in Cambodia but were often disappointed about the cocktails. In Sabay Beach, they can propose all the classic cocktails made in the best way and also propose great cocktails creation. Also, the wine is very good.

Sabay Beach have something special which make a different and great experience!!

A little bit out of kampot town but quiet and along the river.. the staff were absolutely fantastic always happy to have a chat and get you whatever you would like to be comfortable, the tree house room was well structured and the bed was just what you need to have a good nights sleep, the food and drinks were always delicious and left you always wanting more. The Staff helped us with organising tours as the predicted weather was rain and also arranged cheap bus/ferry tickets with no hassle for our onward journey.

I would definitely come back for the friendly faces and food again!!

Great place to stay!!
