This was our last lodge/camp on our 3 week Safari adventure! This is a lodge that is beyond one's imagination for creating memories! We had a magnificent room with each detail perfect! We were so warmly greeting by the staff and camp manager, Kara. The staff never ceased to pay attention to making our stay memorable. Abbas, was our server and he always was thinking about how to make each meal...especially dinner special. They have numerous settings that are unique for dinners. On the ground adjacent to a watering hole where lions also roam at night. This dinner sparkled with the candles and the night sky. Without hesitation, the food at Chem Chem was supreme! Interesting and creative. We had a walk with the conservationist around the Elephant watering hole that was fantastic. Kara was always available to help us plan our days activities. We Absolutely loved this Lodge and we always hold it in our memories!!

Absolutely the best place in the world to end our safari and celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary; it could not have been any better. The room was wonderful with a king bed, ensuite bathroom, and a view of giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, and warthogs up close along with monkeys all over. The camp setting was beautiful and the host Kelly, staff (loved Jamu our butler), personal guide Francisco and our Maasai warrior were wonderful. The food was delicious and our meals were always at a private table set in great location with a view of animals and personal attention from our butler Jamu who was so nice and funny; we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Francisco, our guide was great and we saw all the animals we wanted and also were able to visit a Maasai school and interact with the children. On our last evening, Kelly (although Francisco our guide took credit LOL) arranged for a very special surprise sundowner to celebrate out where we had a view of the lake and could watch the sun go down, with champagne and rose petals all over. This was an amazing way to end our safari and we thank Kelly and everyone at Chem Chem for the experience we will never forget.

When we first arrived at Chem Chem in the early evening we were tired and slightly disappointed since we had just driven all the way from the very exclusive Mwiba Lodge. But after a quick out door shower we received a call that there were lions nearby and would we like to go on a night drive. We quickly got ready and headed off to see what was happening. In a few short minutes from the Lodge we spotted a male lion .....lioness...and babies. Suddenly we were VERY happy to be at Chem Chem. Our guide followed the lions on the move and it made for quite a great first impression and reminded us once again that there is something special about all the top lodges.

The next morning after a great night's sleep we went off to Tarangire and spent most of the day there watching elephants in the huge swamp and enjoying the wonderful baobab trees. We came back very very late and were still served a wonderful lunch and were asked if we would like to go to the lake for sundowners. Every lodge has a pretty spectacular sundowner spot.......but never have we experienced one like this. We could see the lake in the distance from our tent but it was actually a bit farther away than we thought. So the drive there at sunset was lovely and to arrive to a free standing bar set out in a large plain overlooking the lake with thousands of birds and the mountains behind was just fabulous. Our maasai guide actually built our fire for us rubbing sticks.....and it was the perfect place to end not only our stay at Chem Chem but also our last night in Tanzania.

Chem Chem is a very nice place and we were able to sit outside our room and watch giraffe walking by since there is a watering hole right near the lodge. On our drive back from our sundowners we saw the lions again.....and I think having the option of night drives really makes this place special. There is a lot of game in the area and to be able to go off road here and get up close and personal takes it all to a higher level. The staff was so excited to share what was going on that their enthusiasm was contagious. The manager ( i think her name was Kelly).....was wonderful and very friendly. I would say this is the first place one should come to on a trip to Tanzania .....it is an easy drive from Arusha and very peaceful. And if you somehow lose your suitcase on the way......there is a great gift shop that can dress you safari style from head to toe. Happy travels.

WOW! Chem Chem sets the bar as high as one can imagine. The rooms were first class, the food way beyond expectations - like a 5 star hotel, and the host and guide were super. They looked after every detail to make us comfortable. I never expected to watch so much game from our dining area and our cabin, which was sooo nice, including an outdoor shower that we loved. Every detail was was handled beyond expectations.

Chem Chem is certainly a MUST if you go to Tansania, it is carefully designed, beautifully located, great staff, great management, great cook and an absolutely amazing view on the wildlife right in front of your breakfast table. We could not get enough! If you want to experience Africa, this is the place to be.

Room Tip: All tents have a beautiful view....
