Took a class at the President's Day Fiber Retreat...a very welcoming place with great instructors and staff. Welcoming and committed to northern crafts and sharing and teaching others.

“What a Gem”
Reviewed 9 February 2012

The folks at North House are doing a great job of keeping traditional skills alive. Can't wait to sign up for another class.

“This is a magical place with great people, great classes and lots of fun”
Reviewed 22 August 2011

Took a class here recently. It was wonderful! The campus is right on the harbor and everyone is super nice! It was a beautiful weekend and we didn't want to leave. This place can really give you a new appreciation of Northerm MN and the North Shore. The classes are geared to the area and the instructors are top notch. Am definitely going again!

“Wooden Boat Show and Summer Solstice Festival”
Reviewed 21 June 2010

We visited Grand Marais ironically during the Wooden Boat Show and Summer Solstice Festival. The enoyed the viewing of about a dozen wooden canoes and sail boats, the chowder experience and the night sail. Easy to access and wonderful staff make sure to visit at least once! The fish market next store is wonderful as well.

“Get back to basics”
Reviewed 6 April 2008

I have taken two classes at the folk school. Fly Tying and Intro to Bagpipes. The Campus sits right on Lake Superior - the class rooms are Spartan and simple - the instructors are great and REALLY care about teaching you their art in a easy-to-learn, unpretentious way. The staff is also great and from the beginning there is a real "sense of community". A must for life long learning. Grand Marais is is the perfect setting for the North House Folk School.
