Jordan Hot Springs Via Little Bear Canyon Trail is a 14 mile out and back trail located near Gila Hot Springs, New Mexico that features hot springs. The trail is primarily used for hiking, camping, nature trips, and backpacking and is best used from May until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Either form Silver City, or from 35, drive north on NM-15 heading towards the Gila Visitor's Center. Right before arriving at the Visitor's Center you will make a left turn into 15 and continue to drive, croossing the small bridge over the West Fork Gila River and immediately you will see the TJ Corral Parking Lot area on your right hand side, which is where you need to leave your vehicle. Locate big sign marking the start of the Trail, begining of parking lot (on your left as you enter parking lot). Head up the trail #729 or Little Bear Canyon. The trail
drops down into an increasingly narrow drainage (Little Bear Canyon). When the Little Bear Canyon trail meets the Middle Fork of the Gila River, make a left and follow the river upstream for about 2.5 miles, and be prepare to cross the river about 15 times! The hot spring will be on the right (northeast) side of the canyon away from the river. Bring another pair of shoes, or aquatic shoes, as you will be crossing the river about 15 times one way, (most of them knee deep) on the last @2.5 miles heading towards Jordan Springs. So 30 times total on your round trip!
