A neighborhood with attitude. Lives up to its cool reputation! Busy, funky, full of culture and self-consciously cool people.

This is a trendy Brooklyn town. Great brownstones, parks, and good eats up and down Dekalb Ave that spills out into Fulton Mall (Junior's)

What a difference time makes. When I was young, I could not walk safely in Fort Greene. Now there is cutlural diversity, with young sheek people walking their dogs, fancy places to eat, a great park... All I can say is Wow.

Fort Green is, as we can imagine, an American Revolutionary War fort which was built in 1776 under the supervision of General Nathanael Greene of Rhode Island. This General Greene worked together with General George Washington during the Battle of Long Island in 1776. Fort Greene Park, originally called "Washington Park" In 1864, Fort Greene Park was redesigned.
You will find in Fort Greene many examples of mid-19th century Italianate and Eastlake architecture, most of which is well preserved and beautifull to look at.. There are many tree-lined streets and very elegant low-rise housing. Fort Greene has also a little tower, the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower, which, for over 80 years, was the tallest building in Brooklyn. The neighborhood is close to the Atlantic Terminal railway station and has access to many subway services.

Line „Q“ to DeKalbStr.
