Great little park, beautiful trees, very dog-friendly; pick-up games, tennis courts, monuments, farmers' market, and lots of amazing restaurants!

Fort Greene is a classic Brooklyn neighborhood with tree-and-brownstone-lined blocks and home of the Brooklyn Academy of Music and locally-owned restaurants and shops. However, in recent years it has become overdeveloped and an influx of new, former Manhattan residents has made Fort Greene one of the most expensive places in Brooklyn to live.

Lots of choices of restaurants and bars and a very pleasant neighbourhood to stroll. Fort Greene Park is a beautiful small park too.

I stayed in Fort Greene on my last trip to NYC and I loved it! It's not too hipstery like other areas of Brooklyn and has some great little coffee places and shops including a great bookstore. The park is lovely too and best of all you aren't too far from Juniors Cheesecake. The people we met there were also very friendly and you can get most places on the Subway as quite a few lines stop nearby.

Would recommend for couples, families or groups of friends who prefer spending their evenings eating rather than doing the bar scene or clubbing as there are loads of great food places but not that many bars and no clubs or music venues. Go soon before all of the bland tower blocks change this neighbourhood forever.

A great neighborhood for restaurants, bars, and culture. BAM is a special highlight, with film, theater, and music.
