The Wythe Hotel is definitely retro chic, an old warehouse redone. Room has unfinished brick walls, massive wood planks overhead, tall windows, original oil painting on the wall, retro fittings in room and bathroom. Large closet with plenty of hangers. Nice radio. Floor is smooth finished concrete, no rugs. Staff is very friendly. Killer view at roof top bar and restaurant (did not eat there.)
Pluses: room was generous, bathroom large, with free standing tub and large walk in shower with rainfall showerhead. Selection of mini bar is excellent, including a half size bottle of vodka already in the freezer along with a bucket of ice. Blackout shades very effective.
The not so muches: bed is a platform bed and is firm. No desk or comfortable chair, just a small bistro table and matching little chairs. Generous pump bottle of soap was partially dried and clogged, got a big squirt of soap on my shirt. No coffee service in room. I went down to the restaurant and asked to take coffee and juice to the room. Clearly I was the first person to ever ask that. Server was flummoxed but eventually accommodated my request. Should have called for room service. Ventilation system cycles on and off, is quite loud, drafty if sitting by the window. (These days, variable speed, near silent systems are available.)
Hard to know how to rate this. If this is what you are looking for at a top end price point, you will be happy. I guess we will try somewhere else at this price point before returning here.
