The hotel is beautiful and the views are stunning. I had a lovely view of the bridge and downtown Manhattan and watching the view change as the sun rose and set was a treat. Pretty much everything except the grab-and-go cafe is closed at the hotel and there are no bellmen to help with luggage. The immediate area is pretty closed down too but walk a few blocks and you can still find some restaurants open and some shopping. In the room, while the moss planter in the middle of the room is cute, this space would be better used as additional deck space in the bathroom. I also don’t like stacking my clothes behind one another as the closet rail runs front to back instead of side to side. I found the staff to be very ambivalent and never really felt welcome, it was clear they were just there to type on the computer and run people’s credit cards. One of the doormen also was quite rude to me when I asked to get my luggage they were storing for me, as if he didn’t want to be inconvenienced to do his job.
Overall I don’t regret staying here, but I probably won’t return, and I now hesitate to try any other 1 Hotels if it means I’d have the same staff attitude issues.More
