My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Azalea Inn & Gardens for two nights. Our room was the "Gentleman's Parlor". We are pleased to say the room was comfortable and clean. In addition to our private accomodations, the public areas of the inn were beautiful and inviting. We experienced two delicious breakfasts as well as yummy evening treats. The property is conveniently located to all major attractions in the area. I must say, we are quite happy with our experience and recommend Azalea Inn & Gardens to any travelers in the Savannah, Georgia area! (P.S./ The owner of the inn brings her adorable mini Yorkie to the inn. He's a sweetie pie! I love you, Joey!).

Room Tip: Bring your bathing suites w/ you! There's a lovely pool in the garden for you to enjoy.

The Azalea Inn and Gardens was a wonderful place to stay in Savannah. The staff was great. They assisted in getting reservations for dinner and the tours. The food was exceptional and the evening hour with appetizers was enjoyable.
The room was very comfortable and quite. The location made it easy to walk to all attractions in the Historic District.

We were welcomed as we walked through the door. The room was absolutely beautiful. I just sank into the luxurious bed. The sheets were so soft. And the down comforter made even me (always cold) cozy and warm. Great location; within walking distance to Forsyth Park and the river front. Breakfast was served in courses. I felt so pampered. Thanks for everything!

Having come from the stunning and well located Governor's House Inn in Charleston, the Azalea Inn & Gardens was disappointing on a few important levels. The location is a bit far from the heart of the historic district where most of the beautiful homes and other Inns are located. Even on our approach we couldn't help but notice the huge, concrete housing project down the street which made us a bit nervous to leave our car parked out in the hotel lot. Located across the street is a huge eyesore of TV tower. This was not our first choice of places to stay but the other Inns were booked. In fact, for a busy weekend, we noticed that a few of the rooms inside the main house were empty. Not a great sign. For the money, there are better places to stay that are worth the $280 plus tax. We still had a wonderful time in Savannah but spent most of it away from the Inn.

Room Tip: The rooms are small.

I want to thank Tim and Tama for the 4 out of 5 stars for sleep quality and cleanliness! We are often complimented and questioned on the mattress selection and our incredible linens – our guests want that same divine sleep at home. Of course we are disappointed that they thought we were not well located, in their opinion, for the city events – which you must consider strange when the biggest event of the weekend was held at Forsyth Park which is a mere 1-1/2 blocks from our inn – quite close to the ugly building they complained about – a 1950’s architectural atrocity that was typical of the times. The building does include Section 8 housing – as I have repeatedly acknowledged – but in no way reflects negatively on our neighborhood. As a matter of fact, the Mansion on Forsyth – the only 5-star hotel in Savannah – shares the same corner with this building. One of the most successful restaurants in Savannah is located directly across the street from the building – and this restaurant and I share the same parking lot. The Virginia School of Law is renovating a building on the very same corner as our high-rise – the old Chandler Hospital. I can only infer from their purported nervousness at parking in our lot that stereotyping still exists. The equally ugly TV tower is not located on our property but on the site of the Savannah College of Art and Design’s radio station – and we laughingly tell our guests that if they get disoriented or lost in town, just look for the tower – it will guide you home.

We have a 10-room inn, and last weekend (during their stay) we had only one room open on that Friday and not a single room available on Saturday. It is unfair of these guests to insinuate that having an empty room is “Not a great sign.”

I am so sad that they felt the need to write this review the way they have – BUT if you read the other reviews on this site you will now that the overwhelming majority of our guests love our inn, our staff, our location, and of course, Joey, the Yorkie greeter. If you have concerns about any negative comments please do call us, or read our response to any other negative reviews – you will find that we have always acknowledged the building and tower existence. We have chosen Savannah as our city to live in, we have chosen this bed and breakfast to earn our living (that fact that we honeymooned here ten years ago really doesn’t have anything to do with our choice LOL); we embrace our city, our neighborhood and our community’s diversity.
