We stayed two nights during the week, meeting friends returning from Florida. The manager was very helpful with information and tour discounts. The Trailer Park restaurant/bar next door was very convenient for cocktails. Short walk to everything we wanted to do while in town.

The mini vacation started great, hicupped briefly, then finished as one of best we had been on. Traveling with wife and another couple. The check in people went out of their way by the supervisor coming in early to call me with the code because I was unable to recieve the e-mail code -- that was very nice and much appreciated. The only hicupp was when we checked in the smell of disenfectant was so strong you couldn't breath. Open doors turned fans on and 3 hr later when our companions arrived you could stay in apartment. From there on it was all 5 star. Apartment was roomy , well equipped and everything functioned as it should. Excellent equipment in kitchen and wet bar in living room worked great.. Perhaps even better was location in Savannah, every thing we wanted to do or see was within walking distance. (except Tybee Island where we drove) The parking garage was directly behind unit and my car remained there all the time. We parked other car behind unit. Hints: get to parking garage early, and unit is acessed from rear of building which is fine and ours was up one stairs. Patio was nice place to take it easy -- resturants nearby, river street one block away -- city market about three or four blocks away -- very nicely situated.
We really enjoyed our time in savannah! The lodge is conveniently located by river st and all the hot spots. We had a designated parking space which was great since parking can be limited, and we walked and biked everywhere! The only downside to this location is the bathrooms...the shower and tub were permanently stained so it looked dingy (like what you'd expect to see at a motel 6) and for a hefty cleaning fee it made you want a decent shower. Other than that it was an enjoyable stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Oglethorpe Lodge. The suite was clean, spacious and well stocked with kitchen items and towels. Pam made us feel very welcome and gave us great advice. The location was awesome! Close to everything - easily walkable. We had three teenagers with us and they enjoyed it as well. Would highly recommend this place for your stay in Savannah.
