“Nice Experience!!”
Reviewed 26 February 2012

We stayed for two nights. The accommodations were very nice. The first night was a bit noisy, (creaky floors) but that is expected for an old building. Staff very friendly and helpful. But I did feel like the hotel was working for some of local businesses. Was not impressed with some of their suggestions. But overall a great time. Great location to everything!!!

My mother and I stayed at the Inn for 1 night as we travelled for a mother daughter over night trip to Savannah. I wasn't really familiar with the area and selected Inn from the internet. We were very pleased. it was located in the middle of everything. Our room was just like it is pictured--.highly recommend room 208. Julie at the front desk very pleasant and assisted with anything we wanted to do and Melvin the Bellman was kind and always had a smile! ------Debbie and Barb

Room Tip: As much as I hate to tell eveyone and risk that this room won't be available, my mother and I bo...

We only stayed one night, but our room was beautiful, comfortable. The staff was very friendly, and very helpful. Melvin, the Bellman, was great! He is a real asset to the Inn. Location was perfect -- near restaurants and shops. Easy walking to everything.

Room Tip: We were in a corner room on the third floor, facing East Bay Street. It was a gorgeous room, but yo...

If you're up for walking, which is the best way to see old Savannah, this is in a great location. You can walk across the street and down some stairs (which are kind of steep, fyi) to the shops and restaurants on the river. Or you can go in the other direction and see lots of the old homes, many of which you can tour. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff were very friendly. They have a nice cocktail hour in the lobby too. The only place they could have done better, was the breakfast. They did have fruit and yogurt and toast, but the eggs and sausage looked like the nuke-it variety which were then placed in warming pans. Not what you'd expect from a place that advertises itself as a bed and breakfast. However, given everything else and the fact that we got to park there too (parking is very limited, so we lucked out) we would stay there again.

We found the East By Inn quite by accident and are SO glad we did! Shelia and the Inn literally saved our weekend vacation. The original hotel that we were going to stay in was questionable with cleanliness (at best) so we decided to either find another place to stay that night or cancel our trip all together and return home. East Bay Inn was recommended to my husband by one of the larger chain hotels when he called. (Every hotel in the area was completely booked up the weekend we were there.) The Inn had just had a cancellation right before he called so we were lucky enough to snag their last available room (103) for the next couple of nights.

Shelia at the front desk is a WONDERFUL lady! So friendly, helpful and she goes that extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Every time we returned to the East Bay Inn on our trip, Shelia was there behind the desk always smiling and greeted us like an old friend. We travel a lot and have never encountered anyone as nice and helpful as she is.

The room was adorable and stood up to the 19th century historical charm of this hotel. The building is over 100 years old and that really is part of the awe of the place. Our room was comfortable, clean and the bathroom necessities were fully stocked. We kept the "privacy please" door hanger on the knob as we do with every other place we stay and everything inside the room was fine for our 3 day, 2 night stay.

My husband parked our vehicle in the parking garage that was about 1 block away and we left the vehicle there the entire time we were in Savannah because everything is within walking distance of the East Bay Inn. Their parking lot right next to the Inn is small but common sense says it would be because it is a downtown historic district so it is to be expected. They evendentally have an arrangement worked out with the parking garage to make it easier for their guests to find close parking to the Inn.

We didn't take part in the evening cheese and wine gathering because we had reservations for different activities around the town but when we walked through the lobby, there were quite a few guests enjoying the evening chatting with each other and partaking of the wine and snacks. It looked like a good time that we will participate in at least once on our next stay.

Breakfast was nice. Cereals, bagles, eggs, sausage, toast, biscuits, yogurt, milk, oatmeal, coffee, fresh fruit... there are quite a few things to choose from. Nothing too heavy that will bog you down and keep you from wanting to get away from the hotel to see the sights. It is a nice start to the day of touring Savannah and held us over until lunch time.

Each room has a journal where you can read the experiences of previous guests that have stayed in your room and leave your own. It is really neat to read who has been there before you and share your own experience of Savannah and the hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the East Bay Inn and will be staying there again on our next visit to Savannah later this year. Thank you Shelia and all of the staff there for all that you do, we had an enjoyable stay and will see you again soon!

Room Tip: They allow dogs!
