“You can feel the history!”

Like other historical forts we've visited, this one was immaculately maintained. The Park Service Rangers and their volunteer counterparts were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Don't miss the introductory film! The conclusion of it will make any American proud. As you are serenaded by a beautiful acapella version of our National Anthem, the screen rises offering a magnificient view of the fort. Allow at least 2-21/2 hours to see it all. A "must see" for every patriot!

“What a wonderful place to see”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

Fort McHenry is the 3rd fort we have visited and the grounds are my favorite so far. The views are gorgeous. The fort does not have as many information plaques as Fort Sumpter so I would have like to have read more about what certain areas were used for but there was a Civil War demonstration that I enjoyed watching. Nice visit!

“A Beautiful Piece of History”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

My favorite part was the movie about the fort. The park service did a great job on the movie and it ends with a very dramatic reveal... the screen rises and you look out onto the fort and see the flagg waving over the fort. A great "ta da" to end the film.

“Breathtakingly Scenic”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

Fort McHenry is probably one of the most underrated attractions in Baltimore. This place is absolutely beautiful! I truly love going for a run around the perimeter of the Fort wall. The 360 views of the water and ships sailing by, green grass, the sight of eagles perched on old birch trees, cannons lining the hill in the backdrop. This is a place for the nature/history lover! A favorite spot for a picnic or just to go clear my head and appreciate the beauty the city has to offer.

“Great American History, a Must for your Kids”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

It is amazing to visit a place of national history and understand the real story of the "Star Spangled Banner." To walk the fort area during a Ranger Tour and taking a step back in time of Colonial America is cool. A reflection related to this generation and their desire for freedom and the challenges they went through to embrace freedom is "off the hook." This is a wonderful educational visit for children and very close to Baltimore harbor too. In the summer the area is alive and jumping on the week end with music etc. Parents you can get a lot of reading and writing projects out of this attraction with your children. Let them make pictures and write a report. Great visit for classes going to DC too.
