Bring cash as they do not accept cards. No frills non pretentious place for friends, as you must be if you are here. The fish is fresh the chowder is Manhattan based and good. I have had fresh snapper when it was the special and the crab cake as well, oh yeah the shrimp too all are worth the trip.

All other reviews say basically the same thing. Small, busy, cash only, great tasting food. The menu is small. We had the chowder, blackened Mahi salad, and pimento cheese. Waitress was busy handling all tables, but was nice. Beer and wine served only.

This place is one of the friendliest restaurants around and the seafood is always amazing. Started off with our favorite Blue Moon with the biggest slice of orange; then shared a half pot of Ted's famous chowder - he makes 7 gallons a day! My main event was a crab cake on top of a raspberry ginger topped salad; his was the blackened ahi tuna and we shared some onion rings. Always worth the drive, but keep your eyes open - blink and you'll miss it. And take cash!

This was our third time at Chowder Ted's. The seafood and chowder are consistently excellent. Ted has specials of fresh, locally caught fish. Check the board when you go in. I've had the Mahi Mahi sandwich twice. Outstanding both times! The chowder is terrific, like no chowder you've ever tasted.

The place is small, so seating is limited. Casual, bright, and very clean. CASH ONLY. This is a delightful local place and I almost hate submitting a five star review because I don't want it to become any more popular than it already is.

Ted cooks because he loves good food and he does it his way, not yours. And that's just fine with me. Please be sure to call ahead to see if they're open.

I don't recommend bringing young children as it's just not that kind of place. By the way, Amy is an awesome waitress.

Bottom line, lunch for three with tip $77. We got chowder, fish sandwiches, crab cake and tea. This is on the water but there is no place in or out that you have a way to see it. Very pleasant waitress. Maybe 8 tables and a half dozen counter seats that you look into the kitchen. A table for four just had one man sitting at it. A better option might be to have long tables and let folks sit together. We had to sit at the counter which make for awkward conversation. The rather spicy chowder is a broth with vegetables and almost no fish. Our next trip through we will try another place.
