This is one of the premier theaters in Pennsylvania. It was renovated about six years ago so that it resembles its glorious past. All seats have a great view, and the chairs are comfortable. The staff goes out of its way to make you feel welcome. It has it all: live performances, opera from the NY met, and classic films.

Four of us drove up from Frederick, Md, which is nearly an hour south of Gettysburg. The musical For the Glory, as well as the Majestic Theater were more than worth the drive. The renovated theater is gorgeous. The Majestic looks like it is the same vintage as the old Tivoli Theater in Frederick. Frederick is justifiably proud of the Tivoli, but the Majestic is renovated more completely and beautifully. The musical's voices were so powerful and their Civil War stories so compelling that I found myself weeping. The show is all the more meaningful because it is performed in Gettysburg, which is hallowed Civil War ground. I am passing the word to friends about what jewels this theater and this show are.
