Great for the wine classes and especially with a group of friends. Check out their listing for upcoming options. We went for the Spanish wines with good breadth of wines accompanied by a well informed teacher. Make sure you drink water to pace yourself and cleanse your palate. Note that there is no food or bread accompaniment.
I would highly recommend this to anyone even remotely interested in learning about beer and wines. The format was well conceived and we tasted a wide variety of belgian styles. Fun AND educational while tasting some awesome beers!
I have taken 4 classes here at the Wine school...2 wine classes and 2 beer classes. The recent Italian Beer Class was just wonderful. The instructor, Zach, is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. His varied background includes study of anthropology, linguistics and chemistry. He was a wealth of information. He was also, very welcoming and made sure to let everyone know that this was NOT a beer snob fest!
I have never had a bad experience with a class here. Check out their offerings and consider it for a treat for yourself or as a gift for the beer/wine person in your circle of family and friends.
The building is old and nicely done. The neighborhood is full of good restaurants and bars for pre or post class enjoyment. Parking is even fairly easy at one of 2 close by lots. Their offerings are wide-ranging and it's likely you will be able to find something that interests you.
We are lucky to have such a good resource in Philadelphia (I travel to the classes from Harrrisburg, I enjoy them so much). Even making the drive back to Harrisburg after the class, I was home by 11:30.
I purchased tickets for a wine class (Corked and Forked) for my fiancés birthday. It was the perfect gift! We had a great time and learned a lot about wine. There were 20 people in the class and we sat with a friendly couple. Zach was our instructor. He was informative, honest, entertaining, and attentive. We sampled five wines and had a four course meal. The owner prepared the meal and explained each course and it's preparation. It was french bistro style (salad of carrots, potatoes au gratin, lamb stew, and a cheese platter). They even accommodated the fact that I don't eat meat by making the stew meatless. The food was very good. We highly recommend the school and plan on going back.
We went to an extreme beer class. Class was incredible. Very informative and instructor was willing to stay after to answer questions. He was very personable and knowledgeable. Left having learned a good deal and having tried some great beers!
Good value for money wine course. We took an introductory course and enjoyed it although some of the wines werent quite to our liking. Would definately do another course but would choose wisely next time
