Description: The place with the BEST Cheesesteak in Philly, Geno's was founded by one of Philly's own, Joey Vento in 1966. The man had two boxes of steaks, a few hot dogs, and $6 in his pocket when he turned on the grills at 9th and Passyunk. Neighboring joints predicted he'd last six months, tops. Little by little the shop at 9th and Passyunk drew more attention. Before long, people were saying they were the best steaks they've ever had. Joey kept at it. Business was booming in 1971 when Joey and his wife Eileen had a baby boy. Always one to do things his own way, Joey decided to name his son Geno. Joey passed away in 2011. Geno has since taken over the shop and is carrying on Joey's legacy by serving up the famous Philly cheesesteak.

This place and Pats are both soooo busy! It's crazy when you get there at 2am and there are still tons of people coming and going. Love it!

I'm from Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh to be exact but moved out to Arizona back in the late '80s. I come back here every year and literally drive from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia to get both a Pat's and a Gino's cheesesteak.

The problem with all these bad reviews are people looking for some kind of gourmet steak sandwich. THAT IS NOT WHAT A CHEESE STEAK IS. It's a cheese steak, not a steak sandwich you're going to get at a middle class to fancy restaurant.

Pat has better bread, Gino's has better steak and whiz. When you're going to get a cheese steak it's going to be on a soft hoagie roll. your going to have some thinly cut ribeye, some onions, peppers and of course cheese whiz. If you're one of those people trying to substitute any of those toppings for something like provolone cheese or add mushrooms, an OG CHEESESTEAK IS NOT FOR YOU. so don't eat it and give it a one star review saying it was awful, you just don't know what you're eating. Cheesesteaks are definitely not for everybody, so go back to whatever high-end restaurant you just paid $33 for a steak sandwich at.

Geno's Steaks at the Philadelphia Airport had both bad food and poor service. Steaks were nowhere near good. Drink selection poor... no cola products. Staff neither pleasant or helpful. Lots of "attitude". Would not recommend to anyone.

This was my first Philly Cheesesteak so I don't have anything to compare it to but I really enjoyed it. I got a cheesesteak with onions and wiz and thought it was very good. I must've picked a good time to go because there was no line! I would definitely have another one if I ever find myself in Philadelphia again.

First off, this is not a restaurant! As a tourist, we had no idea! This is fast food that you buy at a window and eat at a metal table on the pavement. But it was delicious!! My first ever Philly cheesesteak, and it did not disappoint. I suspect there may be better out there, but when in Philly you must visit the original.
