I've been to the Plough a few times. The location is very convenient near Independence Hall. It's a charming establishment with staff, service and food to match. I've had the shepherd's pie and fish and chips, but my mainstay is now the Guinness casserole. It's hearty, adequately sized, and full of flavor. Erin, one of the servers, is a pleasant young lady who is helpful to sort out the specials and even lets you know when happy hour is ending if you need a last call.

If you are poking around Independence Hall and other nearby attractions, this is a great place to stop for lunch, afternoon snack, beer, etc. Great service and terrific ambiance. Well worth the little stroll to get here from the main tourist areas.

Subtle inviting street lighting and warm entranceway glow drew us inside for a look. And, what a lucky find.

Charming host and owner. Cheery - friendly atmosphere and service. Excellent draft brew and menu selections. Artfully prepared dinners with flavors that compete with the uptown elite.

Only 2 blocks from Independence Square and modest pricing as well. A truest lucky find.

The Plough & The Stars is one of our favorite places to eat while in Philadelphia. Usually we go for an event somewhere and have dinner here. Always warm, cozy, and inviting. Shepherds Pie is my usual go to meal while here and someone else always gets Fish & Chips. Adding an Irish Mule so plates our evening.

This place offers a nice atmosphere in Philadelphia’s historic district. The food was good as was the beer selection. Help was friendly and prompt. This place is great for couples and also would be lots of fun with a large group.
