We had a lovely mid-afternoon Sunday meal here, next to an open window. What a fun environment and the food was very good. No rush, we just kept ordering more!

The Wine Thief has been offering up a comfortable and relaxed place to have nice wine or a beer at the bar for a few years now. The bartenders are almost always friendly and knowledgeable.
The food here is a real plus. The menu is solid and fairly priced.
I've been here several times now and have not been disappointed.

Friendly, attentive service, convivial bistro. Food is aways well-prepared and delicious. My favorites include the cavatelli with sage brown butter sauce, made with seasonal vegetables, the tuna over sushi rice and the meat loaf

I had the opportunity to eat last night at this highly recommended small, casual and relaxed restaurant. It lived up t its billings. The staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't meet the "surly" bartender. The menu is not extensive but i concur the tuna appetizer is delicious. The presentation of the food was excellent and the wide use of root vegetables was appreciated. Parking anytime on Germantown road is a challenge and there is a large public metered lot behind the Wine Thief. It is not well marked but the entrance is a few doors South of the restaurant.

Philadelphia, and greater Philadelphia, is a truly great place for restaurants. The Wine Thief deservers a rightful place among the very best. Best for what? Its the overall presentation of everything that makes this place a must-go. We've now been there twice and will no-doubt be back.
Its quiet, but lively; friendly, but unobtrusive. The food selection is very good, and the food itself is excellent. Obviously, the wine selection is very good- but not pretentious nor over-priced.
Our servers for both visits were excellent. The absolute perfect balance of friendly, humor, attentive and not overly-attentive.
Wine Thief fits Chestnut Hill perfectly- small, approachable, and welcoming.
A definiate strong recommend.
