The Oystercatcher has gone through various owners over the years and today it is enjoying a heyday. Tyler and Sara have smartly limited the menu to a handful of delicious dishes that reflect the season and their creativity. I've never been disappointed with my selections. The soups are wonderful but the place has become famous for its fabulous bread. It is the perfect time to forget about carbs when you sink your teeth into that cool, soft, heavenly slice of house made bread.

The sorbets which are served between courses at dinner are also swoon worthy. The place is small so reservations are best- especially on a weekend.

When looking for a place to enjoy local Penn Cove mussels we walked a block away from the waterfront and found this delightful bistro. Bread(s) are made in house - not to be missed. My mussels were prepared in a classic French style. So glad to have the bread to mop up every bit of the broth. My spouse enjoyed the daily special which included housemade sausage and kraut.
On top of the excellent meal, we enjoyed a great view of Coupeville and Penn Cove

Two different people we met suggested Oystercatcher and it was very good. They served delicious vegetarian but you don’t have to go vegetarian. The bread was excellent. The soup we had was delicious. It is an excellent spot for a special meal out.

We have been taking road trips around the US for 20 years which means an awful lot of eating places so we don't normally review restaurants but The Oystercatcher was simply one of the finest culinary experiences we have enjoyed in two decades of touring the country.
Mrs Hornets ordered the bean cassoulet and I had the duck. We shared a chocolate mousse and also enjoyed some wonderful bread and an amuse bouche.
Hard to describe how good it was and how welcome we were made to feel but this was a place where everything and everybody combined to produce something unforgettable. It wasn't cheap but it was very special.

Stumbled upon this gem of an eatery while driving through Whidbey. And looking for lunch. Totally unassuming from the outside. Once inside we were enveloped in great aromas and a terrific menu with very attentive staff. Atmosphere was wonderful, open kitchen and casual. Food was outstanding, although not an extensive menu. Food locally sourced. Not a place for picky kids who want junk food. Service was great, but good food takes time to prep so be ready for that. Also good food isn't cheap and Oystercatcher is on the expensive side. All in all would definitely enjoy a meal here in the future
