I really wasn't anxious to visit this store after taking a city tour and learning the deep history of the Moravian Church and the founding of Bethlehem. I figured it would be a typical Christian bookstore. What a pleasant surprise to find that this store had departments for pet gifts, children's gifts, house warming gifts, and a coffee/bakery cafe. All the items were unique, even the t-shirts. The store is more like 3 interconnected stores, and if you meander through them all, you will eventually get to the books. Our visit was before Christmas, and the store had one section devoted to decorations for the tree and items ideal for housewarming. Not sure if it is a year-round department, but you will most likely see replicas of the Moravian Star all year long. We visited on a Friday a week and a half before Christmas, and judging by the number of shoppers, I wouldn't have wanted to be there on a Saturday. We didn't sample the coffee or the bakery. I think there are reviews listed under restaurants.

America's oldest book shop (1745), the Moravian book shop operates today as a contemporary general store. Yes, they sell books including books about Bethlehem, Leigh Valley and Moravian life. Book signings occur upon occasion like Gregory D. Huber's "The Barns of Southeastern Pennsylvania: Architecture & Preservation Built 1750-1900". Many books are unique and esoteric along the Indie line. The reading suggestions are curated for age and interest. CD's and DVD's are also sold. I bought Christmas in Bethlehem Vol 3, Bach Choir. About 1/2 of the store is books while the other half is a deli lunch counter reminiscent of the early 1960's, locally made artisan crafts (Moravian stars), Christmas ornaments, cookies, jewelry, and a large fine chocolate counter space. I like the Tiramisu truffle balls. The Moravian Book Shop is almost directly opposite the Bethlehem Hotel on Main Street. A large sign hangs from the brick façade. Inside is the ambiance is warm with the nostalgia of a by gone era.. Parking on Main street is angle parking with a meter. I believe it was $1.00 per hour. There is also garage parking as well as free parking if you are willing to walk a little.

Very cute gift shop with lots of unique items. Staff was very helpful. Much more than a giftshop also a full bookstore.

Lots and lots of gifts and candy with a small bookstore component. It is a bit of tourist trap during the holidays, but is worth the stop to see the historic site.

Despite what trip advisor says it is not the oldest bookstore in the world, it is the oldest in the US.
