We stayed at the Syre Mansion last year and it was really nice. The room was beautiful and the breakfast was very nice. There wasn't much to do in the evening but now it's very close to the Sands Casino.

We stayed at the Sayre Mansion lately and despite a few hiccups, had a great experience. We initially booked the Conservatory through Hotels.com, and a few weeks before our reservation we received an email from the inn that there was a mistake and that room was actually reserved for a wedding. They were really apologetic and moved us over to a smaller room in the inn, and at our request they gave us a bottle of wine for the trouble.

When we got to the inn, they surprised us by moving us to the Hayloft suite in the Carriage House at no additional cost. The room was fantastic and huge, and while more modern and not what I was looking for, it was still a really nice suite.

The breakfast the next morning was fabulous. I had a scrambled egg with tomatoes and parmesan dish and it was delicious (and I'm picky). Would have preferred the option for wheat toast instead of white, though.

The only downsides were the mixup with the reservation (which was probably Hotels.com's fault), and how the inn was taken over by the wedding so we didn't really get to enjoy it. Something to keep in mind when booking on a weekend.

A couple minor suggestions to the inn for the Hayloft.. another mirror in the suite near a socket. It was tough to get ready when we both had to share the bathroom mirror. Also, the Deer Park water cooler was awesome to have in the room, but it was empty when we arrived. Something to remember to check.

Overall, we really enjoyed staying there and very much appreciated the bump to the suite.

Room Tip: The Hayloft Suite is in the Carriage House next to the inn. If you're staying there when a wedding is going on (and not part of the wedding or looking for something more quite), it's removed so you may want to consider it.

We are a couple who travel extensively for business and pleasure and prefer to stay at B & Bs for local ambiance. Unfortunately, this B&B does not embody the spirit of the bed and breakfast guest house. It is simply a small hotel that has breakfast in the morning. We missed the welcoming feel of the private innkeeper who engages with guests. This area has so much fascinating history to be shared over breakfast like the wonderful Bonner Garden owners do in San Antonio, Tx. We had no personal conversations with any staff. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary but were never asked about the purpose of the visit (although we mentioned it to an evening staff) as we have been at other B&Bs so there were no small surprises, no personal touch, no connections made. When we went out to dinner that night, the restaurant staff asked us the purpose of our visit and at the end of the meal, presented us with a single rose. A small gesture that we will remember and we will return to that restaurant again! The breakfast staff was distant, prefering to stand back and observe the room. While this served the purpose of providing needed utensils, etc as soon as they were needed, it was cold and disconcerting.
There were two weddings (1 fri, 1 sat) while we were there and the guests appeared to have taken over the building and occupied the staff. We very much felt that we were intruding on private affairs. On Sunday morning, the guests from one wedding party monopolized the breakfast room and turned it from a serene, peaceful area to a noisy bar atmosphere complete with uncontrolled children. A small child banged on the piano and neither parents nor staff intervened.
The suite and rooms were attractively decorated. Suite 3 was not as clean as it could be. The bathtub surrounded was dirty and the vent of the airconditioner over the bed was caked with dust, blowing bits into the room. Breakfast was nicely presented in quality and quantity but not out of the ordinary.
Street noise was loud all night and the minimalist blinds allowed light from passing cars to shine across the room. Shutters or drapes would assist greatly in decreasing noise and light.
As to value, for part of our trip we stayed at the nearby Hotel Bethlehem and for less than 1/2 the cost of a suite at Sayre, we had a much warmer welcome and just as comfortable a room. In a price range comparable to the Sayre, suite, we have stayed 6 times at the Glasbern Inn. Although the distance from Bethlehem is further, the Glasbern provides a true B&B experience in a gracious manner leaving guests feeling well taken care of and anxious to return.

We stayed here while in town for a local half marathon. Upon check-in on Saturday, we were told that while a wedding was scheduled for the evening, that it would wrap at 10PM due to the local noise oridinance. Around 11PM in the evening, some extremely obnxious leftover wedding guests decided to set up a table in the front lawn (yes, the front lawn) and were drinking heavily and having an extremely loud conversation interspersed with loud cackling. We called the front desk and asked for them to quiet the guests. This resulted in the guests moving their table across the lawn from our side of the Inn to the other side of the Inn (still well within earshot). As the night wore on, the disturbance grew in intensity until we made another call to the front desk at 1:40AM (after a long debate about whether to call the police or confront the guests ourselves). Finally the issue was resolved at approximately 2AM. We HIGHLY recommend that the Inn help Bethelehem enforce the noise ordinance for the benefit of the guests. While the Inn must balance the needs of wedding guests and other guests, it is simply unnacceptable for the Inn to allow obnoxious behavior into the wee hours of the morning.

We stayed at the Sayre Mansion during a busy weekend when every room was occupied. The Mansion's staff showed real grace under pressure. Everyone was unfailingly warm and helpful. As for the Mansion itself, the premises show considerable reinvestment on the part of the proprietor. Our room was in tip-top shape with a beautiful new bath room. The room was large, elegantly furnished and had an extremely comfortable bed. The location of the mansion is perfect. It has ample off the street parking and is just a short walk from the city's Main Street. As a result, it is quiet but close to the action. The buffet breakfast was ample and tasty. We felt that for the price, the Mansion was a bargain and we loved the city of Bethlehem. We definitely will return.
