Owner description: Manatee Village Historical Park's mission is to preserve and share the heritage of Manatee County’s founding period (1840-1918). We do this through our museum and collection of historical and replica buildings. We typically display 2-3 exhibits on a variety of topics related to our mission. Our permanent exhibit is “One Century Plus of Ranching in Manatee County.” Our buildings are furnished to display what life was like in early Florida. In addition to our exhibits, we also host special events like lectures, book signings, festivals, workshops, and demonstrations. Manatee Village operates thanks to a unique public-private partnership through the support of the Manatee County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller and the Manatee County Historical Commission, Inc.

We spent a most enjoyable hour exploring the buildings and the historical artefacts that fill this small site on the edge of Bradenton (14th Street East on the SR64). Mostly original buildings that have been saved and moved to this location. Lots of information on the history of Manatee, its importance as a trading station and as a port on the Manatee River. There is an exhibition on the Florida cattle business and on women, celebrating the importance of women in the development of the state. Incredibly this facility is free and a stop here is going to be most instructive.

This is a location where, with the exception of the Hotel/Store, historic buildings have been brought together, from other locations, and re-built in an attempt to show a typical grouping or setting.

Its very well done and well worth the visit. It helps keep history “alive” and offers a fascinating insight into how the locality came about.

Entry and parking are free - but, donations are welcomed. A suggested $5 per person is the norm, and is a small price to pay to appreciate the hard work of this "volunteer driven" attraction.

We spent a enjoyable hour wandering around the site.

Whenever we are on vacation in the Bradenton area we make a special point of stopping at Manatee Village Historical Park. We love this walk back in time to the history of Florida. The authentic buildings are so beautifully cared for by caretakers who love them as if they were their own. My great uncle owned an old grocery store so the general store reminded me of that with the sundries and home remedies and tools, etc. The law office and court house where justice was served reminded me of what the Constitution really means. All of the village situated in such a metro area was so different. I leave with this, our favorite building was the United Methodist Church, which is still operational for special occasions. It’s steeple stands so proud and regally into the skyline and we loved it! Kids will delight in the train engine. There are additional buildings to see, so allow enough time to do everything. Make sure you stop in at the gift shop - some really cool things. Definitely a great place to visit!

Perfectly preserved historical buildings crammed full of fascinating artifacts & nic nacs. Above the Wiggins Shop are exhibitions connected to the local history & industries of the Manatee area. There is a charming gift shop which they will open if you ask (usually only open for group visits).
