We had a superfun time at the sushi happy hour. Quick and friendly service and tasty food. Stay away from the Las Vegas roll though.

Its a Wednesday lunch 2/22/17. restaurant nearly empty. Lots of help present, several cooks, a hostess and 2 managers present. We Arrived and hostess was on the phone with a friend, after 5 minutes a busboy came over and asked what we needed. Hostess was still talking on phone long after we were seated. The menus came much later. It is Wednesday half price wine bottle day. Asked to sample a wine at start, nothing came to table for 30 minutes, We didn't get the wine. We ordered and 20 minutes passed then 25, then 30, No food, We asked the waitress who then on her own sent the manager. Manager was Nice sat down at table to understand why we didn't get our food (embarrassing), but no effective result. Food still took another 5 minutes. (A club sandwich and a salad with shrimp). The sandwich was poorly made- cold tough bacon, only turkey and crammed into a grocery store type 6" hogie bun (the kind you buy in a package at Albertsons. the cheese was yellow American. The ingredients were cheap and poorly prepared - no dressing on the sandwich or offered with) The sweet chile shrimp (Thai style) salad was mediocre, but the shrimp were not sweet chili- just plain, the salad dressing was made with sugar so it was sweet, BAD. Advertised as a Thai thing- nothing Thai about it. Despite delays and poorly made food the manager and waitress offered us nothing not even a free tea. ( WE did not complani - should have! These are signs to me of a failing restaurant which Is far overpriced for El paso at lunch- $16 for the salad (little shrimp) and 13$ for the turkey sandwich. Used to eat at Kona in Phoenix all the time. This is not the same, DONT EAT here unless of course you like High priced sushi ( Even the California roll I saw being made looked like Sams club sushi - for $12. NO. If you are pretentious and like paying way more for food than you need to, you might like it here, we will not go here again until assured they are trying to be good or better yet actually become good and treat customers with not just smiles but good food and proper prep time. The nicest person here (Not arrogant) was the busboy who seated us.

Went to Kona Grill for Granddaughters 13th Birthday! Had a reservation for 6 thru Open Table & were seated immediately. Things went downhill from there. We were given 6 menus-1 in Spanish which we don't speak. Took about 15 mins for someone to take our drink order. Took another 10 mins for our waiter to come tells they were out of one of the drinks we ordered & another 10-15 mins to get the drinks. Grandaughter was supposed to be suprised with a vase of roses but they couldn't find it & so the manager ruined the suprise by discussing the issue in front of her! They finally found it! Placed our dinner orders (we had a 2 yr old with us no children's menu!) As I stated earlier there were 6 of us, we had 4 silverware settings & requested 2 more never got them! My husband ordered the Filet Med-Rare which included mushrooms on top. The Filet was Med-Med well @ best & the mushrooms were brought out 10 mins or so after the steak! The only positive was they did let me make a substitution on my dinner order!
Overall the restaurant is so noisy it's hard to hear anyone speak including the staff, food was not worth the price. The service was extremely slow & we were not impressed overall! We definitely will Not be back & will not recommend Kona Grill!

Ok, so let me start off by saying that this place is on the pricier side, and that would be ok if the food was good. Unfortunately, the food is mediocre at best and the sushi is not fresh at all. I would expect this quality of sushi at a Chinese buffet. Yuck.

The cubano sandwhich was ok and the tuna sliders were pretty good. Overall I would not go back. There are much better places around here to eat.
