This was my first time going to New York for my 21st birthday and if you want a special trip and are willing to pay a bit this is definately the place to go. Its gorgeous. The one thing you do have to remember is its the city that never sleeps so you wont be spending much time in your room. We had a King double with 2 King beds in it, big flat screen tv, couch, bathroom was massive and facing right onto times square. Such a central location and it has everything inside it. The elevators are something else and probably one of the best things about the hotel a tad confusing but you get used to it. You can buy tickets to broadway shows and attractions in the hotel, theres a gym, a revolving rooftop restuarant. I would definately go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1232 and it was bang on times square, amazing view, you would think it would be no...

I loved this hotel. It's huge.

Price: we had a deal from marriot rewards that the per night room was 169 a night. For me, that price is a steal for what you get.

Location: you are in the heart of times square. If you live broadway shows you are min away in walking distance to everything. You can walk across the street to get cheap tickets at the discount broadway show booth. Three block away from the Ed Sullivan theatre.

Service: the conceirge is incredible in regards to sending you to the places you want to see. Any question you want answered in regards to where to eat and where to go will be covered.

If you want theatre tickets there is a place in the hotel that can get you what you need. Pricey though.

The fitness room is really nice as you have a great view from the gym. Equipment is good.

I like the elevator system which is something I have never seen.

Will stay again.

This hotel is really good, has probably the best location in all of new York, and it is very nice in the inside. The only thing that makes it sPecial though are the elevators, other than that it is not a very special hotel, good but not great.

This is a beautiful hotel, great area. Walk right across the street to the Broadway shows. The service is what you would expect at a Marriott, very good. The elevator system is confusing and quite frankly, sucks. Other than that, it's a great place to stay. The BEST thing about it is the restaurants. The fancy restaurant at the top turns so you can see the views of the entire city, this is beautiful. It's quite expensive, but worth it. The little cafe on the main "check-in" level is also good, order their French Onion Soup, it's the best I've EVER tasted. If you have this for lunch on the first day you're there, you're going to order it every single day and not try other things or other places. If you don't order it until the last day, you're going to be sorry and wish you did. It is absolutely the best.

Room Tip: The high rooms give an amazing view.

My wife and I brought our two kids to New York for a quick visit this past weekend. I am a Marriott Rewards Platinum level member and turned in points. The hotel is one of the most popular in Marriott's portfolio, so it is a "Category 7" property, meaning lots of points (30K) are required for one night's stay.

It is worth every point. As others have pointed out, the location is outstanding if you are traveling with children. There is so much around Times Square for everyone that you are guaranteed a great time. You are only a few blocks from most theaters and great restaurants.

I took advantage of the fitness center, and it is also first rate. My one pet peeve was that the elliptical machines were Star Trac, which I don't like (Life Fitness and Precor are better for many reasons, IMO). However, the center itself was very well equipped, there was no wait for anything, and the large windows look out on Times Square. It was great.

The rooms are well-appointed, tidy and modern. For a family of four, we had plenty of space to stretch out. If anything, the room was among the larger NYC rooms in which I've stayed. The bathroom was a little small, but nothing out of the ordinary for New York.

Even if I'd paid for the room (and I have at the Marriott Marquis in the past) it would be worth the money. It's a great property in the Marriott chain. One wonders why Marriott doesn't invest the money to make it part of the J.W. Marriott brand. It's that good.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking Times Square are a bit noisier than others (even on a high floor). If you're l...
