The East Village is filled with tourist traps. They got press once upon a time and have ridden it into the ground.
During the day on the weekend, this is a great place for families, not so much at night. It is a restaurant in a bar. Chef from New Orleans and he takes the food seriously.
Po Boys and Muffalettas, not the pretend stuff but on bread trucked up from New Orleans. House cured and smoked bacon and ham. Pickled fried chicken. Great red beans.
Overall just good stick to your ribs food that will fuel the rest of your sightseeing.
