I met a friend for dinner here last week. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was excellent and the portions were generous without being ridiculous. Our server warned me that the Chicken Vindaloo was "spicy" - he did not lie. I cannot say if the food is "authentic" but it is delicious. The decor is simple. They used to have a lot of draperies but now the place is brighter. My friend and I lingered and they did not try to rush us at all. Prices are reasonable - most entrees at $10-15.

We had the veg platter and lunch veg thali. The food was pretty lousy. The saag paneer was "weak" and the channa masala (chickpeas) barely had any spice and were not heated enough. I worked in India for 3 years and only cook Indian at home, so I know what these should taste like. The onion pickle was good, though.

It is located in the "Indian Town" in Manhattan ( Lexington Avenue between 24 Street and 30 street). The restaurnat has quite variety of Indian food including Tandori food as well as wide choices of vegetable curries. Though the decor of the restaurant is rather plain and no fancy, but the quality of food is great and the price is reasonable. It is definitely worth trying when you are in town and craving for India food. After the dinner there, you may stop by some spice shops in the area.

We came here with the family on a Wednesday evening, because we had been recommanded this restaurant from a New Yorker Tour guide. The restaurant is close to the Metro Station "28th Street" (Line 4,5 and 6) and is very easy to find. From the inside it looks a lot nicer than it does from the outside.

When we came there, the waiters were really friendly and thoughtful. They came to refill immediately whenever our glasses were empty. As soon as we sat down, they brought us an appetizer of bread and several dips. Some of them were spicy and others sweet or prepared with coriander. The menu is big enough and offers many choices for different tastes.

The meals we had were delicious. They had a very good and sometimes spicy taste but were very well prepared. Even though we usually eat a lot, we weren't able to finish all of our dishes, because it was so much.
What we really liked were the different kinds of bread. We had one with garlic and another one with coconut.

As a desert, the four of us received a kind of milk rice which was also very tasty.

The resataurant definitely fulfilled our expectations and I would highly recommand it to anyone who loves Indian food or wants to try it for the first time!

Hadn't been in awhile --they refurnished the interior --it's brighter so better atmosphere. Beers were cold and the curry just as hot as you request --we went with mild and it was fine. So we're putting it back into our rotation of week night restaurants. Oh one other thing --they installed large windows that slide back so it's semi open air so you get the hustle bustle of Little India while you dine.
