We have eaten at John’s many times. We went before a Wednesday matinee and it was mobbed. We were told a 45 minute wait to be seated. We noticed you could get food off the menu at the bar so we waited a bit and wangled two stools. The bartender should get a medal- constantly in motion yet attentive. I hope he gets massive tips when on duty. We appreciated his hospitality. As for the pizza and salad- it scratched an itch. Not fabulous but okay.

Saw very positive reviews on TripAdvisor so decided to try this place for some dinner. We chose an early dinner slot, as some reviews said it got busy later on. We waited 40 minutes in the bar area to be called to a table, which was fine and only added to our anticipation of how good the food would be. The food was great - we had a Caesar salad and a pizza and they were lovey. However, if the restaurant management or owners read this, they should be absolutely appalled at the disgusting state that their toilets are in. Not only were they unacceptably dirty and smelling very strongly, but for such a busy restaurant, they were extremely shabby and covered in graffiti. My retort to a comment of not informing a staff member would be along the lines of it is not your customers’ job to check and report on the state of your toilets, and also my girlfriend said the female toilets were the same and one of your staff members spent some time in there taking a phone call and it obviously didn’t come to her attention to do anything about it whilst on her call. Such a let down for what was otherwise a very pleasant visit.

We ordered the Margherita mini pie and we were really excited to try the pizza here as I had heard good things about this pizzeria. I am honestly puzzled by all the wonderful reviews regarding the pizza. We didn't order anything else on the menu so I can't review anything but the pizza.

It was okay, the sauce was very bland and kind of tasteless. My friend who shared the pizza with me agreed about it being just okay.

Service was very slow, we were seated quickly but waited about 45 min on a weeknight about 8:30pm. Doubt I will go back.

Got here early...about 5:00 and the place was already filling up. When we left about an hour later, the line was out the door and down the street.

Promised my wife we would get an authentic NY style pizza when we came to NYC and John's came through for my promise. Delicious!!! Really flavorful sauce, the right amount of cheese, lots of topping to choose from and the crust....well the crust was perfect. Can't go wrong on their pizzas!!!

We also ordered a slice of New York cheesecake to share...nice way to finish the meal.

Service was okay...not exceptional but friendly and for the most part, attentive. It was busy so you give a bit of slack. Can't say the same for the person who met us at the door and seated us....seemed he could care less that we were there.

If you want good pizza, come here to John's at Time Square.

We liked this perfectly situated, buzzy restaurant, handily-located by the subway and just off Times Square, John's is simply ideal for a casual, relaxing pizza or pasta. With pizza coming from one kitchen and the pasta from another, we were warned by our server that the respective choices can arrive at differing times in order to keep them hot. As it happened, the time difference was negligible and a good meal was had by all. A table in the main atrium with its classical architecture would have been nice but time was of the essence and we settled for one in the wings with immediate service. Maybe next time. Meanwhile, we've still got some of the giant pizza left in the carry-out doggy bag!
