Aside from the aggressively unwelcoming tone of the woman who "greeted" us on the ground floor of 1250 Broadway, the dining experience at Gaonnuri was top-notch with the kind of whispering, first-class service I expect from this type of Korean restaurant. Cuisine was thoroughly delicious, and the dining room staff paid attention to every last detail, including asking us if our window blind was at the right level. The 39th-floor sunset view of Manhattan and the Hudson River was spectacular. All in all, a 5-star experience minus one star for the rude greeter on the ground floor.

Come here for the spectacular panoramic views and open spacious atmosphere. It's a treat and your wallet will validate that. The food is decent, very well plated, but overpriced - you know you're paying for the view and it's worth it.

We came here for dinner with our family group of five people to celebrate our son’s birthday. Our first time experience in eating Korean food was fantastic.
This elegant Restaurant is on the 39th floor of the “Woori Bank” Building, and is listed as one of five of “the most innovative Korean Restaurants in NYC”.
As soon as we entered from the elevator, we noticed right away, the modern and stylish décor, the very high ceilings, and the spectacular view of NYC from the wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows – not to mention the Bar and its HUGE selection of Wines.
Upon being seated by the window, one quick glance at the menu immediately let us know that this place had a unique assortment of Korean food with a modern twist.
For appetizer, we ordered the Gaon Platter. This consisted of Calamari Salad, Yukhoe (raw Prime Beef Tartare), Boss am (thinly sliced Pork Belly boiled in spices), plus Fish Pancakes, Cucumber Slivers, Kimchi and strips of Korean Radish. Every item was mouth-wateringly delicious, especially the Calamari which was flavored with Honey and Gochujang, and served on a bed of Salad Greens. What a perfect blend of sweet, spicy and crunchy!
For the Main Course, we ordered the Barbeque Combo Assortment, where they grilled the seasoned, and unseasoned, pieces of Pork, Chicken, Duck, Beef and Shrimp right on our table. Everything was perfectly cooked and served at the correct choices for each of us. So delectably delicious!
We also received an array of Side Dishes -- White and Multi-Grained Rice’s, Little Balls of Mashed Pumpkin, sweet potatoes and apples, Kimchi, Chopped Romaine Salad, Scallion Salad, and assorted chopped vegetables.
The Wine and the Drinks were spot on, and paired extremely well with the food.
The Service was attentive and efficient, without being hovering or intrusive. They paid attention to little details, kept our water glasses filled, and patiently explained each entrée as they were cooking and serving it, even letting us know what sides go well with which meat.
How was it even possible that, without much smiling or fanfare, they can make you feel special and welcomed, right from the lobby and check-in, to the time you leave? We were impressed that, somehow, they managed to do just that!
Given the location of the place, it is obviously a little pricey, but the magnificent unobstructed Sunset, and night-lit, NYC views made up for everything, and contributed to our very special evening.
The Restaurant was the perfect choice for our special dinner, and we would definitely recommend this upscale place -- not just for the food and the views, but also for its cool and classy ambiance, and its modern and fancy vibe.

Atmosphere and views made for a great setting; service was very good too once they found us a seat close to the windows (which we requested when reservations placed). We shared several delicious dishes and couldn't decide what we liked the most. If I had to choose I'd say the Blackened Cod...the side dishes were great accompaniments with each course. Hope to return.

My wife and I were in New York for our first visit and were meeting family in New York. Being foodies we wanted to try something different and have a view with a little "wow" for the booking so researched and found GAONNURI. It was a good choice, fairly easy to find, great welcome, great food and great welcome. My wife is not into spicy food and there was only one dish on the tasting menu she did not enjoy. As we both enjoy high end restaurants this was great, We would return if we are in New York again
