I have 3 daughters ages 6,7,10. We surprised them with a day at The New York American Girl place for Spring Break. They were totally excited and almost overwhelmed by the things to see and do with their dolls. We visited on a Thursday which was great because although it was busy we were able to move around and slowly shop because it wasn't packed. Every floor was very clean and items were presented in a fun way where they were able to choose everything they wanted easily on their own. We spent a while in the store and there were no complaints at all. The salon was great and the girls got their dolls ear piercing done as well. We skipped the cafe because it didn't have good reviews. We ate at a nearby place and used the extra money for the girls to choose another outfit or assessory. This was a great experience for our girls and I would recommend it for any doll lover!

We had 4pm reservations for tea. When we got there 10 minutes early, there was a long line up. We had to wait 20 minutes inline before being seated. Our server was not very attentive, she seemed to just want to rush us out of there. I had informed them it was my daughter's birthday and they were supposed to put a candle in the desert and sign happy birthday, she completely forgot even though my daughter had a little sticker that said 'it's my birthday' (given to us at the front desk) on her shirt. The food was good and presentation was very cute. Of course spoofing in there is heaven and the staff in the store was very helpful.

The American Girl doll store in NY is very nice. There are beautiful dolls in display. The historical doll floor is the best where the dolls are set up with scenes from the time period they lived. There is also a floor for bitty babies and the customized American Girl. (where you can choose hair, skin and eye color). Overall the store is set up great and girls can spend hours there! I would highly recommend the store, but stay away from the cafe. I took my 3 girls (10, 8, 5) to the brunch. First, there are about 8 selections. You have one mini cinnamon roll each (which is a joke as they are soooo small). Then your main entree. We had French Toast, Pancakes, and a Fruit Platter. All were just OK. Then you have dessert which was a chocolate mousse. The mousse was very good. The doll gets to sit with you and receives a tea cup for pretend drinking (though no plates for pretend eating!!!). If you forget your doll, you can borrow from dozens of dolls available. The reason why I say to avoid the cafe, is because it is a ripoff. for $20 per person plus tax and tip, the brunch was at best mediocre. The ambience was at best OK. Instead of paying all this money for brunch, I would rather to another cheaper place. I even asked the girls and they replied they would rather skip the cafe and go straight to the store.

Enjoyed looking around but the dolls are very expensive. Even if you don't collect these dolls, your little girl will enjoy picking which doll looks most like her. Not a must see, but fun for girls of all ages.

We were in NYC Easter weekend and went to the American Girl Place for breakfast on a Friday morning. We arrived a little late but they were nice and ushered us in quickly as the breakfast had already started for the 9:30AM seating. The dining room is very girly and all of the young ladies seemed to be having a great tme. My 11 year okd daughter loved it and the food was not bad from the fixed price menu. Service was a bit hectic at first, but partially due to our arrving late and them trying to catch us up to the rst of the groups. After that, everything was really nice and the entire experience was great for the family. We went through the store afterwards, and it really is amazing what they have there, although it all comes at a price!! Everyone throughout the store was also helpful and nice.
