This place was so great when it first opened - the bartenders were awesome, the servers were great, and I loved all of the hosts! Then, something switched, perhaps money got tight, and the owner was always scrambling around the restaurant furrowing. It was ominous. The servers that were amazing all disappeared and were replaced with full-on blundering amateur-night stand-ins, you ever saw the same hosts more than once, and the steady pacing and fervent and jarring movements of the tall owner (handsome guy, don't get me wrong, but obviously over-stressed and the vibe was really taking a hit for it...) really just made it creepy to eat there. It closed. No one cried. Hopefully something that can keep up a positive and upbeat momentum will take its place and it isn't just going to be the same owners giving it a face lift and a new name, because the location is spectacular, and so is the space. It's too bad whatever started the plummet downhill couldn't be reversed, but to be honest, I've managed restaurants before, and this is NYC - the west village, no less, on west 12th and Greenwich Avenue......aside from having poor management or a grumpy ominously-furrowy leader....it isn't that hard to retain excellent talent. It's VERY EASY to lose them. Perhaps the arrogance of believing that the staff doesn't literally "make" the restaurant was the nail in the coffin. Darwinism won this one. Here's hoping for some fresh, non-pretentious blood to revive the corner!! If anyone has a few million bucks, I run a pretty tight ship! Oh yeah the review......FOOD: Took forever, was constantly salted to the point of puckering your lips like movie popcorn, DRINKS: 9 (bloody Mary's were killer and came with pickes!!), SERVICE: 9 at the beginning/1.5 at the slow grim end, ATMOSPHERE: British version of a TGIFriday. Hokey and over-wrought in a way that's charming after 3 drinks. Odd "nautical themed" artwork in the bathroom....made no sense. Not much did. RIP Monument Lame xxJames

It's OK but that's as far as I'd go. And given how many other restaurant there are in this neighborhood, I can'r see a good enough to pick this one. I wouldn't go back.

The place has potential and the vibe is good upon entry but for us the acoustics was not right (a bit loud) and the food was without love. We tried Chicken on waffles (became a bit boring after a few bites) and the Manhattan shoulder (nothing extra). Service is good and good people watching.

Service was great. We had a really healthy but tasty meal. The dessert was a berry cobbler that was incredible. Great spot.

The service was great as was the food. I would recommend with friends or a place to take a date. The restaurant has such a warm local feel.
