Thelewala was our favorite spot for satisfying our street food craving in NYC.
We have tried Paneer Kathi Roll, Dahi Papdi, Aloo Kathi Roll, Gol gappa and Chai and all was really good !!
Keep your Indian vibes high !!

Located in a small lane in the main city, one has to climb a couple of steps to get acces to the crowded counter. The menu is well printed in a card and is on display on a blackboard; but is not fully reliable about the contents/ingredients! We ordered Jhalmuri, Chicken Kathi Roll, Simple Egg roll and Alu-panir roll; they were really good. Food was served pretty quick. The space is somewhat cramped, if you want to have the food there. There is place for about six or seven persons at a time. However, I wish the service quality were better; this is because when I complained about a discrepancy in the "Roll" I had ordered, I did not get the best answer and that too in not the best manner!

There's a block of Macdougal just south of the NYU campus that's lined with hole-in-the-wall restaurants with no place to sit. Thelewala is in the middle of the block, offering Indian street food. From sidewalk level, you take several steps up to the cash register. My chicken Thelewala roll did not take long to prepare and was quite good. Everything else I saw looked delicious. They have one short counter with five stools in front of it; there's room for four people shoulder-to-shoulder. Otherwise, walk up to Washington Square Park and eat while the pigeons glare at you.

During a walk in the area, we craved for a quick snack.
We ordered the chicken with fried egg rotti, it was mildly seasoned, and well priced.
