“Great boutique hotel near Time Square and Broadway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend. It's really close to Time Square and Broadway, which was perfect for us. 30 Rockefeller Center is a short walk away as well. The hotel is really nice and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room considering it's location and price point. We enjoyed free wine from 5-6pm in the lobby each night, as well as free coffee and hot chocolate at different times of the day. The lobby and lobby bar are really cool and everyone we've dealt with on staff has been wonderful. I would highly recommend this place and would not hesitate to come back again.

After reading a ton of positive reviews before we booked the muse, we thought we'd chosen well. However, there were a few key issues that made our stay less than stellar. 1. Although I know NYC is the city that never sleeps, windows must have been single panel, as we could hear everything! Advice - Friday night is trash pickup for several hours starting around 10.
2. We asked the bellman to hail a cab for us because it was raining. After a few unsuccessful attempts, a guest pulled up and the bellman abandoned his efforts to help us and helped them instead. We didn't realize this until we saw an available taxi drive right by and saw the bellman pulling luggage out of someone's car. We had to walk 20 minutes to our destination and arrived late and soaking wet. 3. At 7 am on Sat morning, we were awakened to hotel staff snapping open garbage bags and chattering loudly in the hall. 4. Although black marble in bathroom was beautiful, there was visible white soap scum on every grout seam. 5. Bed definitely does not compare to comfort of other hotels.
Otherwise, checkin was smooth, we did receive a very inexpensive rate for military, and location was great (unless you're trying to hail a cab in the rain, but that goes for much of the city). Decor was beautiful and pictures on hotel site are accurate. Unfortunately, the traits will not keep us here on our next visit.

The Muse is a smaller boutique hotel steps away from Time Square and the Theater District. Great location and great personalized service!! (shout out to Melissa at front desk!) We stayed in a balcony room the first night. Cozy clean room, well appointed with comfortable bed. Balcony had 2 lounge chairs and a table with seating for 4. Unfortunately, construction on the building next door was going on so scaffolding was on and around our balcony leaving you with no view. Next night we switched to an executive suite. This room was fabulous. Very large bathroom as well as nice size living room (couch bed has temperpedic mattress) with sliding pocket door to bedroom also nice size. Wine in the lobby every night from 5 to 6 was a nice touch. I think I prefer the smaller hotels as the personalized service you get at The Muse is so much worth what you pay compared to larger, less personal hotels. All staff at The Muse were friendly and personal as well. We live in New York (Long Island) and plan weekend get aways in the city often and I think we have stumbled upon a diamond of a hotel. We will defintely be returning.

Great location and very quiet for being so close to Time Square. We took advise of the other reviews and requested a higher floor. Check in was a breeze.

The Muse Hotel near Times Square was a lovely spot with a great, central location. We stayed in a spa suite which had its own balcony (essentially a rooftop) over looking Times Square. It was gorgeous: spacious, attractive, and comfortable. There were no bedbugs noticed. The housekeeping was a bit spotty -- the same piece of hair stayed on the bathroom floor for three days. The housekeepers did not take tips unless you specifically wrote a note saying the money was for them. We also asked one of the housekeepers for a coffee machine but never received it. Overall, however, the hotel is perfect for the right person, meaning if you want a doorman at the door every time you walk in and out or you want a place that's a hotspot on its own, this hotel is not for you. However, it was perfect for us. The front desk staff was very helpful (particularly Marc) and they also double as the concierge. There was coffee, hot chocolate, or mixed drinks available at some point during the day. The hotel is surprisingly quiet given its location and not once did I hear garbage trucks, sirens, or construction noise. If you can afford a spa suite, be sure to get one because it's well worth the money. The spa tub was enormous (very comfortable for two) and the shower area was also spacious. The only problem with this room (1801) is that there is not enough lighting in the living room (particularly near the closet). Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and suggest that you look into it for your next trip to New York City.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, get a spa suite. I highly recommend room 1801.

Dear Mallorynp,

I'm so glad you treated yourself to our Spa Suite and had a relaxing stay at The Muse. This is one of our most luxurious accomodations and it's great that you got to take advantage of it. I hope you will return for another peaceful stay sometime soon!

Kind Regards,

Olivia
